Capots Vintage, specialist in sports and classic vehicles in Lyon, offers for sale a 2002 Morgan Plus 8 Le Mans 62: We are pleased to present a very rare Morgan Plus 8: the special edition "Le Mans 62". Created to celebrate the 40ᵉ anniversary of Morgan's victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1962, this version is limited to just 40 examples. Its design pays tribute to Morgan's sporting heritage and evokes the victorious TOK 258, driven by Chris Lawrence and Richard Shepherd-Barron. As the commemorative plaque on the dashboard indicates, our example is number 23 of the 40 produced. Only two are currently available in France, and this is the only one for sale. With only 40, 000 original km, this model has only had two owners since its launch.
This commemorative version boasts a number of special features, including a green 'Le Mans Green' paintwork finish, a removable ivory fibreglass hardtop, 'Le Mans 62' instrumentation, black leather upholstery with perforated panels and trim, a Moto-Lita wooden steering wheel bearing each car's individual number, carpets with 'Le Mans 62' lettering, a slightly raked windscreen to improve aerodynamics, a stainless steel sports exhaust system and a numbered badge on the dashboard.
Mechanically, the car is powered by a 193bhp Rover 4. 0L V8 engine, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Morgan recently carried out a complete service, including a brake system overhaul and replacement of the radiator. Supplied with hard top and soft top, tonneau cover and sidescreen with black PVC storage pockets.
