Very rare sight today the opel manta b coupe gtj which this is but when i acquired the car in 2014 it was in need of lots work and the mechanics were not much good . So after some thoughts about what to do i remember having a opel manta in the 1980s always wanted to have one again i restored the body and decided to make it a bit special so i worked out how to install a 3000 12v and getrag 4 speed which i had from a opel monza scrap car . sadly the engine had issues some years after so i found a perfect senator 12v which i fitted . originally it was made with solex carbs which never ran right so a few years later i fitted new weber 4os and they have never been a issue since . Some improvements over the years with added cooler its always kept within temp and its got fitted a extra gauges for oil and water . There is alot of similar parts fitted to original the engine is same design extra two cylinders and the brakes are original on back with monza calipers on front rebuilt . When i restored the car every thing was new, wheels, tyres, wheel bearings, joints, springs, hoses, its painted nice and the decals designed by me i think set the car off . The interior is the original seats door cards roof lining and carpets, the seats recovered matching yellow piping sets the car off i think . So after a many years of shows and winning trophies and also the nec 2022 restoration of the year too i have enjoyed this car it will always bring a smile to you face with the looks and sound and its nice performance . I will say that its not been thrown to gether , its been loved garaged ever since and i have loads history from when i bought it and what i did and a restoration photo album . Its on youtube over the years and it needs nothing . its mot and tax free and insured for over 30k . You may be asking why im selling this is lots reasons ive had my fun, and ive got two more new projects to enjoy now. It runs on unleaded as this engine has later harden valves , its not thirsty if you drive it steady . For the new owner and im going to be honest i will be selective over this as i want this car looked after, i will show you everything i know and im sure i have a few spares too. Th great thing is its a non sunroof model so no rusty roof . I have paint spare too so how does it drive well its a great and stops well too . Yes its 1981 so its not brand new so expect so age wear but interior and exterior are stunning and well cleaned . The car took two years to build and restore alot of hours and money and with that in mind the cost to build one would be double what im asking i do believe that with the cars providence and rare, i guess not many built like this how manta should of done and built with precision and care ex engineer . Im sorry im not looking for any deals if you find you cant do what i asking thats fine but where would you find another i say . Its been featured in practical classics too and other newspapers never got it on tv other than when it was at the nec when i won but ive not seen that . So what will come with the car , i have a very nice car cover with gtj300o on it, spares, file of paperwork of the parts used, photo rebuild, one set keys, i have fitted a secret fuel cut off too. Original roof aerial too and period new old stock stereo tape and parcel shelf speakers with good sound too . The engine had done about 80 k when fitted although its been stripped twice in ten years , i stripped it in 2023 to inspect and did all what was needed found it to be superb and bearings all good i replaced the seals and gaskets and all gear guides . The car runs on points still this is only has ive not refitted the electronic distributor after having it rebuilt which is in the boot as a spare , ive never had a issue with all the miles i do so i left it alone . this is a one off and not only looks stunning drives great sounds great always gets a smile when your out and very rare now please note, im very happy to send videos more details pictures even with the car driving im waiting for a dry sunny day . i understand that some of you are not local appreciate that and i will help in what way i can . this mata is rock solid and will last many years still
