For sale is my 1994 Land Rover Defender 90 300TDI in very good original condition.
I bought this truck some months ago from my neighbour as I have often admired it and being a Land Rover enthusiast, found it hard to turn down. I have actually serviced this vehicle for my neighbours and knew it rather well which only solidified my want for it when it became available. Sadly I am having to move it on because I have recently opened a new Classic Car Restoration business, - details above, and need the funds to pay the rent and my mortgage..... (Sadly more important than Land Rovers...).
Anyway; this example is in fine condition with a very solid chassis and bulkhead. During my ownership I did actually replace the rear crossmember as it was starting to look a little worse for wear, although it arguably still had a few years left in it. The rest of the chassis and underside has regularly been treated and is in very good condition! I can testify after having the thing on a ramp for many hours, scouring the underside, that there are no hidden nasties! As well as replacing the rear crossmember I have also topped up the underbody protection and sandblasted and repainted all of the rear steel that is bolted to the crossmember.
Mechanically, this Land Rover is very good indeed. Everything works as it should and has been well serviced and maintained. Someone at some point in its life actually wax oiled the engine bay, so the majority of the components are in very nice condition! In my ownership I have given it a full service, changed the discs and pads as well as the brake fluid and completed a radiator flush with new water pump. It has also had a new auxiliary belt and tensioner. The towing electrics at the rear are also new. The tyres are reasonably recent and (from experience of owning other Defenders with these tyres) will last for many years to come and are a very good all round tyre for 4x4s. There is also a pretty new fuel tank as the old one had corroded. The front bumper and grill are also new.
Overall the body presents very well and shines up nicely. There are a few small dings and aluminum corrosion, mainly on the rear door (just being honest). The interior is very original and very tidy! Hardly any wear, no cracks in the dash and no damage to any of the plastics.
To drive, it is a classic Land Rover but it pulls strongly and changes gear nicely. There is no nasty noises (that aren't factory Land Rover) and everything works as it should! It is a pleasure to drive and will be a very good and reliable workhorse to anyone in need of owning a British icon.
All the extras fitted to this example really do help with the usability and functionality of this Defender. The roof rack is an (expensive) Land Rover option, complemented by the rear ladder. It also features a front sump/ steering guard, snorkel, Hella spot lights and the hardwearing checkerplate finish. (Which I assure you isn't hiding any nasties)!
Overall this is a fabulous and well maintained, original example of a great 4x4. It is totally ready to go, wanting absolutely nothing! I only wish it was me that would be tackling those Green Lanes in it.
