Description
1935 Austin Seven Rod Yates Ulster bodied LWB chassis with Pigsty Race engine for sale.
The engine is very special, originally commissioned by David Bignold (of Alan Mann Racing and Ford Motorsport Fame - details above) to have Pigsty Racing build him a race engine for his race special. Sadly the engine had been newly built but never ran or raced until I purchased the engine in 2022. I commissioned Alex at Pigsty to rebuild the engine again and have it fully setup and run-in on their dynamometer which was completed in November 2022. The engine spec is below and enormous and would cost in the region of 6, 000 pounds to commission today.

The Austin Ulster Special (BKN 233) was built by and for the Jackson family and I spoke to the son Nicholas Jackson (NJM Racing Limited & AM Mercedes Driving Specialist) who said his father, a professional engineer, built this car 3 or 4 years ago from a LWB Austin Seven. The original LWB Austin Seven buff logbook comes with the car and I attach a picture for you. The chassis number stated on the buff logbook concurs with the chassis number on the car as does the registration number which is very nice. Nicholas told me they had built 4 ulster replicas over the last 10-13 years one for each of the brothers and one for the father who had a bit of a thing for them. BKN 233 was meticulously built using a new Rod Yates aluminium ulster specification body and the original fitted engine was completely rebuilt with a high compression cylinder head and some reliability features like Bosch distributor, 12-volt electrical system, new SU Carb, new water hoses. She exhibits the ulster straight leaf spring on the rear and a straight spring on the front giving her a sports low slung setup which feels fantastic.
She is nothing short of absolutely beautiful and stunning in every way from the underside to that lovely blue paint finish. You can appreciate the engineer hands that have been on this car with all fresh robust fixtures and fittings perfectly reconditioned and assembled. The seat is very comfy and wonderfully trimmed to suite the period and behind the seat inside the tail you can find the inside beautifully painted as the outside.
The performance of this car is amazing with the dyno curve stats showing between 40-50 bhp and an impressive torque (dyno video and docs included).
She is sold with a spare engine and currently has an original spec Bluemels flat steering wheel fitted.
I prefer the underslung look but a front bowed axle is supplied along with a number of other spares.
I am looking for 22, 000 ONO pounds to see it go to a good home.
