Dating back to the mid-1970s, it was equipped in service with a 90 mm Pvpj 1110 recoilless cannon to annihilate tanks (Tank Killer) during the Cold War. Produced in around 250 pieces, it is equipped with the mighty 3-litre B30 petrol 6-cylinder engine derived from the most powerful Volvo civilian cars of the time. Performance was extreme for the time, as was reliability, thanks not only to the power of the engine (125 hp), but also to the presence of portal axles (minimum ground clearance like Mercedes Unimog) and the front and rear differential locks with air vacuum. Also used for competitive use, in the 1983 Paris-Dakar a Volvo C303 won in its vehicle class. The particularly compact dimensions (4, 350 mm in length) make the C303 particularly agile in the most extreme off-road conditions. All this is aided not only by the aforementioned differential locks and gantry axles, but also by the efficient gearbox with short, precise shifts. The C303 TGB1111 off-roader offers space for four passengers and is equipped with an easily removable soft-top. In keeping with Volvo tradition, in addition to the advanced state of the art technology, which includes watertight brakes among others, safety is also taken into great consideration thanks to the presence of seat belts and above all the sturdy roll-bar that folds away in front and on the sides of the vehicle. Today enthusiasts buy it not so much for its historicity, as one would for a Jeep MB, but above all for its unrivalled 4x4 performance.
A well-preserved example with few kilometres is worth a lot, because with it you can tackle any type of obstacle in total serenity, which can only be approached with any type of off-road vehicle, even one prepared for several tens of thousands of euros. A unique example regularly registered with a Certificate of Historical Relevance, the one offered here is homologated for 4 passengers and has plenty of cargo capacity to cope with any extreme travel experience. Totally original outside, inside and underneath, thanks to the original 13, 000 km driven, it drives like a new car and is very easy to get used to. The steering is light thanks to its demultiplier, the 6-cylinder B30 engine is exuberant and full of torque, the gearbox with reducer simply perfect. Incredibly robust and at the same time light and efficient are the portal axles, much sought after and paid for 'gold' for the most extreme elaborations, making them in fact much more desirable than the Unimog ones. Contrary to what one might imagine, it is very smooth to drive and does not transmit any vibrations, thanks above all to the valid 6-cylinder in-line Volvo B30. A true milestone in the off-road world for competent only, it boasts a solid community of enthusiasts, ready to do anything to own one in absolutely original condition and with as few km as the example on offer.- Preserved example (first coat of paint) in Swedish camouflage with original soft-top - Totally original interior and underbody - Just 13, 000 km from new - One of only 250 built - Matching number - Equipped with the most desirable original B30 3. 0 6-cylinder petrol engine - Only example regularly registered in Italy and homologated as a 4-seater car - Ready to take on any journey - Complete with booklets and tool kit
