I lusted after these beautiful Triumphs in my early motorcycling days when they were first produced. They were rare then, are even rarer now, and of course I couldn't afford one then. But what a dream. A bike that was competent both on and off road and improvable for more use on either surface. I eventually realised the dream two and a bit years ago when I bought this fine, very low mileage, original example. I enjoyed riding the beauty for just over 200 miles before illness caught up with me. I have needed surgery x2 in the last 18 months and likely to need more in the new year. So I haven't been able to ride over the last 18 months and may not be able to for some time. For this reason, with much regret, I have come to the conclusion that I must sell the bike, hopefully to a new owner who will be able to use it as it should be used.
The bike is in excellent running order and is, I believe, original apart from replacement consumables as follows. I have fitted new mt43 tyres, oil pressure switch and speedo cable. The speedo was working when I bought the bike but the cable broke after 150 miles. The wiring loom was replaced recently with a fabric covered type as the original was cracking, splitting and becoming "unreliable". I have fitted a longer type gear lever from another Triumph as I found the original a bit short for my boots. The original, in excellent condition, is included. I have also fitted a smaller (47 teeth) rear sprocket to raise the gearing for improved road performance. The original 53t sprocket, in excellent condition, is included. The chrome is generally excellent. Paint work is good but showing some patina in places. The alloy fuel tank has a small dent lower right as shown in the photos. Otherwise excellent. The speedo mounting bracket has cracked some time in the past and has been welded. See photo. New battery just fitted and another new one still boxed is included, as is a workshop manual and owners handbook. V5c present, in my name. This is a rare bike with a very low recorded mileage of only 3999 miles and matching numbers, in good original condition. Everything is working as it should. A clean bike that looks good, sounds great and starts well. A dream come true for someone?
