Description
Alfa 1600 Gt Junior with 1750 engine, Right-Hand Drive and UK registered (I. e. not a South African Import). 5 speed manual gearbox and LSD.
Car is mid way through restoration and has had thousands of pounds invested into it, unfortunately due to a change of circumstance is no longer possible to finish it.
Body:
New floor pans, new wings, new rear quarter panels, new rear back panel, new front panel and new sills panels (from alfaholics) have all been welded in. Underside has been hermetically sealed and undercoated in red, whilst body had been prepped and repainted. Unfortunately the first paint job was of poor quality with an unnecessary amount of body filler (not befitting such a car) as a result the car had been stripped to bare metal for the second time and primed (by a more reputable body shop), this includes the interior with red-oxide primer. That said it has not been painted and whilst standing for many months slight surface rust has appeared in localised areas of the body.
As it stands only the underbody is complete and the engine bay is painted and ready.
The doors, bonnet and boot are all present but will require repairing or replacement where necessary. Has two sets of wheels, those in the pictures and the original steel ones.
All the windows are also present, the grills and exterior chromes are also present i. e. exterior door handles, triangular grill, headlight surrounds etc.
Mechanical:
Car starts and runs, has been taken on numerous test drives around the garage complex, with it freely revving and changing gears after a careful restoration of the drive train.
The carbs have been restored and re-sealed (full gasket set) including new carb mounts, the engine has been re-sealed (rear main seal, front main seal, waterpump gasket, tachometer drive gasket, fuel pump gasket, oil pan gasket, cam cover gasket) however now will require tuning the carbs to get it running like before.
Small things changed include belts, new fan, alternator repair, spark plugs, thermostat housing, new points, new distributor cap, new distributor rotor, new tachometer wire, spark plug leads etc besides that 1750 engine is in very good shape, with no scoring, consistent compression values and good looking cylinders and pistons.
As it stands the engine requires a few new coolant hoses, new starter motor (current one has started to grind) and accelerator linkage.
There is a new Sachs clutch kit, new flywheel, new clutch slave and master cylinder (clutch) and new rubber and copper lines (Has been bled). Diff, gearbox and engine all have recieved fluid changes with proper oil.
The suspension has also been restored with new parts where required including new rear shocks, new track rod ends, new gearbox mount, new engine mounts, new rear bushings, new spring mounts etc… whilst the brakes system has been fully overhauled including new copper brake lines, new servo, new master cylinder and fluid reservoir, the callipers and rest of system are in perfect functioning order (have also been fully bled).
The steering box has also been professionally overhauled with new ball-bearings and correct weight gear fluid (not grease as is often found in such systems).
Interior:
Unfortunately dash is heavily cracked and will most likely require replacing, seat cushions and rails are present but have no coverings, furthermore there are no carpets, no door cards, no gear box gaiter, no headliner.
Electrics:
All wiring looms present, all gauges present, all lights present but will require electrician to connect them. The electric window motor and the mechanism is present, so are the rear taillights and cover and front headlights and chrome surrounds etc..
Lastly:
The pictures of the good looking engine bay where done in April 2024, where it was nearing completion, since then it has collected a lot of dust.
