Description

With a fantastic service history, less than 100k miles, 6 speed MANUAL gearbox and unmodified, I have decided to sadly pass on my Mk5 GTI to the next lucky owner.

Having owned it for around 2 years it has been extremely reliable as a daily driver. Only selling due to recently gaining yet another Volkswagen, which has become my daily driver.

When looking to buy a Mk5 GTI I knew I wanted an unmodified, lower mileage example from the usual facebook marketplace shitters, that had driven through Halfords or Ebay. Being a VW enthusiast myself, I was over the moon to buy this one in such good condition. Having never been modified it has all original exhaust, suspension, intake and wheels etc.

Bodywork presents excellently with only very minor blemishes or stone chips here and there, in my opinion exceptional for the age. No major dents or scrapes. The front arches are common to rusting on these but there is only very minor paint bubbling on the inside lips of each wing. They may need attention in the future, but certainly are not taking anything away from the look of the car. The panel gaps are all fantastic. When polished up it gets compliments wherever i go for being so good looking.

Mechanically the car is good. It has been extremely reliable having never let me down in the 13000 miles I have done. Having recently passed MOT and been serviced, its ready to go for another year. Its even got a FULL TANK OF FUEL which is always a nice bonus.
The rewarding manual 6 speed MANUAL gearbox works perfectly, as does the clutch which still feels as-new.
The service history on this car is just fantastic - FULL VW service stamps up to 2016, then specialists thereafter and has had more Cambelts than you can shake a stick at. Just take a look at the photos.
When I bought the car I decided to carry out some preventative maintenance from reading about common issues with the Mk5 GTI. The high pressure fuel pump cam follower was replaced, which is a common failure point, as well as having an uprated recirculation valve fitted. I also decided to replace the thermostat with a genuine replacement part from VW to prevent common issues in the future.
Since all the work I have never had any issues with any of the common faults!
One problem i never got round to fixing is the drivers door lock that doesn't lock remotely, But it never really bothered me as i am oldschool, and still manually lock the car with the key in the door! A new set of front door locks are actually included in the sale to cover the repair if required.
The tyres are matching Toyo Proxes all round and perform really well. The front tyres will probably need to be swapped to the rear soon, as the rears have more tread than the front, just to get more life out of a matching set.
Obviously this car is nearing 18 years old so will naturally need further looking after, and regular maintenance to keep it in good condition.

The interior is also in good condition, having the legendary GTI tartan cloth seats and original flat bottom steering wheel. For the age and mileage it presents really well. The seats have no rips, tears or cigarette burns, however the drivers seat bolster is showing some signs of wear, see pictures. The carpets still look great with very minimal wear, and even the rear fold down cup holder is still intact, very often it has been kicked off or stood on by rear passengers!
Dashboard, centre console and door cards are all in good condition, although one or 2 of the middle air vents have been damaged by someone using a vent-damaging phone holder in the past. Again not a hard or expensive job to replace. I have just straightened them out and not moved them, which looked fine.

The wheels have been refurbished in the past, see pics for condition, they shine up really nice after a wash and look great when paired with some tyre shine. Unfortunately there are a few kerb marks, but shouldn't be hard to sort with a smart repair.

All tools, spare tyre and locking nut are present under the boot floor.

If you want the opportunity to own a guaranteed future classic give me a call and come and have a look. I always try to add as much detail as possible when selling a car, if you have any further questions or require any more pictures please message me and i will be happy to help.
