Description
1962 Austin Healey sprite
This is an early car, which means it shares the same quarter elliptical rear suspension as the frog eye sprite and is meant to handle better than later cars. This example has been upgraded in a few key areas and is therefore much more usable than a standard car. It has a larger 1098cc engine from a later car and larger front drums taken from an Austin A40. It has a single box exhaust and sounds great. It’s great fun to drive and can keep up with traffic well.
Recently I have fitted new headlights, wipers, brake cylinders and shoes and a new battery. The paintwork especially has seen better days and the gearbox does jump out of 4th gear. There are areas of rust that could be addressed but it’s pretty solid overall. Also included in the sale is a spare wheel and tyre, the hard top and windows and a soft top frame and tonneau cover. Really cheap to insure and free tax means it’s great fun and cheap motoring.
I would consider a swap or px either way for another classic or anything interesting. I’m selling it reluctantly due to no longer having a space it keep it inside, however it is kept covered.
