Description
Welcome to the sale of "the suppository", my trusty Citroen C5. It was bought as a hack to get me between Hampshire and Yorkshire twice a week and has done so reliably for the last 10, 000 miles. It's now surplus to requirements so up for sale she goes!
Good bits;
Nice spec. Electric leather, cruise control, auto headlights/ wipers, power folding mirrors etc. All of this bizarrely works, which must be a rarity on an old Citroen!
11 months MOT, with new-ish tyres and consumables replaced as well.
Hydro suspension works as it should, with the car rising and squatting correctly. Also works under load without throwing a hissy fit.
Insures on some classic insurance policies (I pay about £200/ year)
Not so good;
It's cosmetically rough, with various dings and bumps but nothing overly serious. It has a few patches of surface rust bubbling through. There is an advisory on the MOT for rust in the sills, but having had it up on a ramp it's fairly minor.
The interior, whilst actually in remarkably good nick for it's age, has sticky plastic in various places.
The split tailgate doesn't work, and the boot struts are knackered. However, it does have a helpful bit of wood (cut to size by yours truly) that holds it up!
Issues;
Vibration at 70mph+, I suspect either a balancing issue or a slightly buckled wheel.
Turbo vac valve can be sticky under hard acceleration. This results in a momentary loss of boost before it kicks back in again.
One of the rear drop links needs doing. I have the bits.
So, there she is. In honesty she's a bit of an old shed, but charming, comfortable and remarkably reliable. I would jump in the car and drive her anywhere in total confidence , and that's genuine.
I haven't fixed the outstanding bits on her because they don't bother me enough. I won't lie and say she's been lavished with care, but she's always had the essentials when needed and been treated with mechanical sympathy. It is fundamentally, a "good un"
Come and have a look/ chat over a brew. Not interested in messing people about (and equally will ignore offers of £300!). Swaps with cash your way for something suitably interesting.
