I am offering for sale my well cared for 1986 628csi. The car is solid and in very good condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. This shark-nosed classic is a pleasure to drive, always attracts attention and is more exclusive than a 635csi.
The black paintwork looks great and the beige interior has been looked after. The car is in original condition with no modifications and is equipped with the desirable Sports Pack. It sits on genuine Alpina wheels and is fitted with an M6 front spoiler. The original TRX wheels can be included, if desirable. Options include fully functional air conditioning, cruise control, electric sunroof and sports suspension. It has covered 132k miles, it has very good service history and an advisory-free MOT until July 2025.
I purchased the car in Dec 2023 from its fourth owner, who owned it for 16 years. In his ownership the car was serviced regularly by him, had new front wings and jacking points, and a glass-out respray in factory black in 2014. In the period prior to his ownership, the service book has been stamped 26 times between 1986 and 2005. The automatic transmission was reconditioned about 10k miles ago.
In my ownership the car was fully serviced and had the following work carried out by a reputable BMW specialist: full appraisal, several suspension parts replaced, new brake and fuel lines, new fuel tank, new differential mount, 4-wheel alignment. The left sill was professionally repaired to a very high standard and 4 new Goodyear tyres were fitted.
I should note that there is slight wind noise at speed from the driver’s window, the heater blower only works at max speed (blower speed can be adjusted correctly when the a/ c is on) and the fuel gauge can be a little temperamental (but the low fuel warning light still comes on correctly). These are minor issues the next owner could address but, in my view, they don’t detract from the overall experience of owning and driving the car.
The car drives very well, always starts first time and its 2. 8L I6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission run smoothly. It has a functional alarm and immobiliser and comes with 2 keys and a folder with receipts. In 2026 the car will be MOT and tax exempt.
