1985 BMW 5 Series E28 528i

Here I’m regrettably posting my 1985 BMW 5 Series, ‘Alpina B2. 8’, that I’ve had the pleasure of owning and restoring over the past 6 years.
The vehicle has covered a very low mileage, with supporting service history from BMW throughout the past 40 years.
Interior is in extremely good condition, with the sun-visor trim being the only area in-need of attention due to the vinyl sag that occurs on these vehicles.
The 2. 8 straight six is a stunning piece of engineering, starting on first key turn - recently having new plugs, leads, and all other ignition system replaced with brand new.
Mated to the 5 speed dog-leg gearbox, this lower ratio makes for a quick car, even by today’s standards - helped even more by the Limited Slip Differential. All these are factory options.
Electric windows, sunroof, & cold start assist, the modern comforts are present. Manual Recaro seats have the classic BMW smell, with brown-tint windows, Alpina steering wheel, gearstick, & instrument cluster.
Recently undergoing a full underbody restoration with extra OEM+ steps to improve the longevity and usability of this vehicle no matter the weather. Brilliant Alpine White body work, repainted in 2019.
Alpina wheels, front splitter, and the period body kit make this car stand out from any other E28 on the road.
The rumour is the ‘Alpina B2. 8’s’ are Sytner cars used for pre-release show casing, offering all the look, with the best E28 models available in 1984, but not the mechanical changes that would come in 1986 with the larger 3. 4, & 3. 5 litre engines. This I have no evidence of, therefore I cannot claim this, nor will I. Interesting nonetheless.
Only the air-conditioning doesn’t work, and a few small age-related marks surround the vehicle here & there. Its near-perfect, with new everything underneath, modern suspension and poly-bushed components means it can be driven & enjoyed, not just a show pony, or garage trophy. This is the car, for the Enthusiast.

Will add note, exhaust is non-standard but stainless, intent was to change this for an OEM+, but due to sale this is postponed. Price will be reduced at the price to source a replacement.

Instead they’re the four-wheeled therapy that every car lover craves. The balance isn’t just in their weight distribution, but the sound, the comfort, the raw-feeling, and all else that has made me smile every time I’ve been able to take this car for a spin.
