Description
Sadly due to bereavement my father's early 1962 Jaguar Mk2 3. 8 is up for sale, the car is finished in Old English White, (Selling as pictured with no engine or gearbox, steering column or box, etc).
Complete with all the body panels, complete doors with frames, window and door catch mechanism and outer chrome door handles, bonnet & bootlid, rear wheel spats, petrol flap, all glass, wiring loom, petrol tank, headlining is good and still fitted, complete front subframe with suspension and brakes (excluding servo) complete rear axle and been a 3. 8 car is a limited slip differential, is also complete with the rear suspension and brakes, the car has the benefit of wire wheels and even the spare is a wire wheel, there are also the chrome body waist strips and chrome guttering included.
The car has had £1000's spent on it having the underside bodywork professionally restored and the bodyshell is mostly done, it has had new front wing wheel arch repair panels, sidelight repair panels, new front crossmember, new front wing to grille repair panels, new saddle panel, new closing panels for crossmember, new front wing splash panels, (just to note all front end repairs externally have been re-leaded as would have been from the factory) new jacking points, osf floor section repair panel etc, osf sill section, the front end is complete. The rear end needs a small amount of work (see pictures) both rear wing lower valance corners will require repairs, and small repair to the osr sill / inner wheel arch end (see pics) and that should be it in the way of corrosion repairs to the bodyshell.
The doors will require new door skins and the doors re-gapping as the gaps aren't the best, the rear spats will require some minor repairs but my dad was going to replace these with the slim coombs type spats.
Originally automatic but my dad has had a manual gearbox tunnel fabricated so will take a manual gearbox, this has been tried with an all synchro gearbox and all fits as it should.
All the brakes were rebuilt prior to my dad acquiring the car a few years back so would require very little attention.
This is a perfect project for someone who has a donor car that is too far gone or beyond their capabilities as our car has had the majority of the bodywork carried out, or would make a great Coombs tribute car or hill climb / sprint vehicle.
Anyone who knows these cars will appreciate how complex and time consuming and expensive these cars are to restore, but the beauty is all the hard work has been done, with some minor work to finish this off it would make a superb car.
The car is complete with it's V5 registration document, heritage certificate and chassis plate.
Just to note the steering / swivel uprights on the wheel hubs have been attached with a length of wood so the car can be steered / turned manually for moving purposes.
The car is available for viewing anytime, I can try be as flexible as possible with this as I work shifts, the car is located in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and obviously is collection only.
