Description
Hi, here for sale is my 1935 Standard 10. I’ve had this car for over three years and came from Mathewsons of TV’s Bangers and Cash fame. I didn’t mean to buy this particular car. I made one bid then realised I was bidding on the wrong lot! No other bids came in so it ended up being mine. Unlike some that “cop off” on an mis bid I stood on as it was my mistake- it does happen though!!
It turned out to be an unfinished project, the lot I meant to bid on was up and running! It was still when Covid was around and I thought I may get round to sorting and finishing the car. When it arrived it turned out to be much better than I thought.
It obviously has had some work under taken though there was no paperwork with it.
1. The grill, bumpers and headlights seem to have been re chromed (Expensive)
2 . The wheels look refurbished and new tyres fitted (expensive)
3. The upholstery and headlining looks to have been redone (expensive)
4. The axles and running gear looks to have been done (the brakes also seem to work fine)
5. The engine looked to have been done and clean but it wasn’t running.
6. The body looks solid with some panels having been repainted but not a fantastic job, other parts were part prepped.
I had to replace a front wheel inner tube as the valve had been damaged. I also soon got it running off an intravenous fuel supply and am able to move it around under its own power. A video of it running hopefully has uploaded on this advert. That’s about as far as I got as there always seems to be something else that takes priority.
To complete now it needs to finish wiring up for lights etc, as all is not connected and check and reconnect the fuel lines. Then it may be able to be used but it would also benefit from the paint finishing.
I have always kept it garaged but now am looking to sell as I’m unlikely to find the time to take it further even though it seems a very worthwhile prospect. At the moment it is taking up space that should be used by one of my other classics that is currently outside.
There was no V5 with the car and it seems to have fallen off the DVLA system. I started the registration process with help from the owners club but didn’t finish that either though it seems to be a relatively simple process.
The asking price represents my current investment in the car which I hope to get back but accept that my mistake may end up costing me. Having said that I’m not going to give it away but would be happy to loose a few quid and see it go on to an enthusiast and be finished rather than me break it and sell it for parts to make some money.
I’m happy to talk cars with like minded enthusiasts all day but please don’t waste my time or yours if you’re not genuine. I’d prefer to talk to you on the phone rather that endless emails or texts. Keyboard warriors and silly offers will be politely ignored.
Viewing is welcome and recommended, please contact me to arrange.
Thanks for looking.
