Description
Originally registered in Germany the bike was sent to the famous Magni workshop in Samarate in the early 1980s where it received its initial modifications to Magni specification. The bike was returned by its Swiss owner, a senior executive at Harry Winston the luxury watch and jewellery company, in 2008 to be converted to full-Magni specification. Following this the bike was well know at many prestigious classic events including the Reto-Moto de Saint Serge at Vaud (2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015), the Coupes Moto Légende à Dijon (2010) and the Classique at Le Castellet (2009, 2013, 2015 and 2016)
The bike is considered very rare as all the conversion work was done by Magni at the Samarate workshop, rather than by owners or agents around the world.
In full Magni specification the bike boasts a light-weight chrome-molybdenum frame, a chain drive conversion, EPM magnesium wheels manufactured by Arturo Magni's son Carlo, a full body kit of tank, seat, side panels and ultra thin fairing plus the signature Magni 'banana-pipe' exhausts with removable baffles.
On purchasing the bike in 2017 it was immediatley taken to the pre-eminent marque specialists MV Meccanica Verghera in the UK for a full restoration which included the chassis and engine being stripped, inspected and restored while keeping the patina of the original bike. New parts were fitted where needed and a bill for over £14, 000 is on file.
During my ownership I have ridden just under 3, 000 trouble free miles thanks to Mark and Mitch Kay at MV Meccanica Verghera and accumulated 6 penalty points for having too much fun! To see that the bike goes just as well as it looks please see this YouTube video of it in action by searching for '1978 MV Agusta Magni Riding’
Unlike many similar machines, this bike is the product of the very best in the world of classic MV Agusta motorcycles, the Magni and MV Mecannica Verghera workshops.
