Description
Beautiful right-hand drive 1991 Mercedes 190E 2. 0 W201 four speed automatic which was imported from Japan in 2017 by my father-in-law. I (actually, my wife that owns it) took ownership in 2022. It has had just two owners.
It has not even done 50, 000 miles yet! Valid MOT until August 2025.
I’m reluctantly selling because my wife has new a job with a rather lengthy commute and needs to be able to drop off / pick baby up from nursery so wants a new car.
As it has spent 26 years of its life in Japan the underside of the car is in great condition since they do not use salt on the roads.
Interior
Classic blue interior, 4 electric windows, DAB radio, Bluetooth system, classic wooden steering wheel and gear knob, heated rear windscreen, air conditioning (I got adaptors fitted in 2023 to convert the old R12 refrigerant to the new safer standard of R134a), full spare tyre in boot.
Mechanical
Drives really well. I had all four shocks replaced in Oct 2022 and front left and right lower arm assemblies replaced in 2023 – car handles superbly. I also had a new rear exhaust box fitted in 2023.
It can sometimes take a couple of cranks and pumps of the accelerator pedal to start but once running, runs exceptionally well. No issues with idle, no sporadic revs etc. This is to be expected for a car of this age. In my OCD attempt to getting the car to start perfectly first time, which is perhaps unrealistic for a car this age unless the full KE-Jetronic system is replaced, in 2023 I replaced the following parts with new ones - fuel filter, injectors, spark plugs, check valve on the fuel pump, fuel accumulator and OVP relay. These have certainly improved performance. Having improved the mechanical fuel delivery side of things, I think the thing that would improve further is a new set of HT leads, distributor and rotor arm – I just haven’t had time with baby and a busy job to sort this over the past 18 months.
There is a suspected oil leak from the rocker cover. Haven’t had time to sort this myself – baby and have taken priority. But rocker cover gaskets are readily available and this is fairly easy to sort; clear instructions in Haynes Manual that I will provide with the car.
Bodywork
Bit of a dink in the near side rear corner where someone reversed into the car whilst I was in a car park (see photo). Superficial only and could easily be sorted by a detailer. Paintwork on the near side passenger door (see photo) has started to lose lacquer – again easily rectifiable with a detailer.

Thanks for lookingThis car is exceptionally unique purely on the fact it is a right-hand drive Japanese import which stunningly low milage (less than 50000 miles) so naturally the level of corrosion and rust is absolutely minimal, and the mechanics of the car are in great condition.
The interior boasts extreme comfort and whilst the seats offer a ‘sofa like experience’ the fact I’ve had all four shocks replaced just 2 years ago means the car handles extremely well at speed.
Absolutely gutted to be selling this to be honest!
I hope the person that takes this will look after it well as it will outlast most cars on the road today, the Mercedes engineering and reliability is that good!
