Description
1969 Pontiac GTO 242 convertible, one of only 2, 415 produced with a factory 4-speed manual transmission and fully documented by the Pontiac Historical Society.
This rare classic has been imported and registered in the UK, so it’s fully legal and ready to go. Finished in Candy Apple Red, it features an upgraded 454 engine with a recently installed 5-speed Borg Warner T-5, and comes with all the sought after options that makes this muscle car stunning including the hood tach, hideaway headlights, power windows, electric convertible top, fully chromed engine bay, and rumbling dual exhaust.
The car has been well-maintained, with no rust, no leaks, and it’s serviced regularly. It runs strong and reliably with no mechanical issues, making it a solid all-around vehicle. This isn’t a trailer queen but definitely a head-turner and a true representation of iconic American muscle and it’s already here.
There are a few minor issues to note: the rear power windows work from the front control but need attention to function from the rear switches; the hideaway headlights are operational but the tab is broken at the switch and needs replacing. The system operates (can be seen) but currently doesn’t open automatically; and the convertible top is fully functional, though it struggles to raise up at the start. Could use a few little touch ups on the paint but it shines. Missing front seat headrests but I do have them to include. The seat has the necessary hardware, just needs some altercations to make them fit if you desire. Little interior things could use attention but do not take away from the overall look and appearance of the car.
This is a rare chance to own a true American classic in a desirable manual, convertible setup. Asking £36, 500 and located in the Gosport, Hampshire area. Open to reasonable offers. Happy to video chat live for serious buyers or answer any questions.
Thank you for your interest. The Pontiac has always been my dream car. I love the meanness of it, the muscle and the intimidating look.
It’s a rare muscle car in general and it is the model credited with starting the American muscle car craze in 1964. The 1968/ 1969 model is one of the best in its 10 yr run.
Fun to drive, reliable and a real head turner. I originally brought it with me in my cross continent move, struggling with space and a small garage and now plans have it looking like I will be going back and not sure I can take her again. My loss can be your steal.
