Description

Presenting our very rare early 16 valve Vauxhall Calibra equipped with the renowned Red Top engine, co-developed by Cosworth. Our well-preserved example is one of the few remaining on the road that was factory fitted with this engine. My wife and I have owned the car for nearly 10 years, initially purchasing it for its great condition and low mileage.
Under our ownership it's had minor restorative work to correct scuffs and small dents, I've kept the car as original as possible.  Recently serviced and recommissioned it passed it's MOT (valid until July 2025) with only 2 minor advisories. The mileage is well documented with service stamps until 2003, then various mileage confirmed invoices and mot's to present. Recent maintenance includes reconditioned injectors, engine timing belt changed, engine and gear box oil changed, front and rear discs and pads changed, fuel pump changed, all carried out by an ex Vauxhall technician.
Early Calibra bodies suffered with rust because they weren't galvanised but the low mileage and never taking it out in the rain/ snow has prevented this from occurring on our car.
The interior is in very good condition for its age with only minor wear to the drivers seat.  The sun roof is currently non functional owing to what is believed to be a relay issue. I've never used the AC or radio so I cannot verify if these function. The front of the headlining has started to sag slightly but has been stuck and it looks fine.
I fitted a full under engine tray approx 5 years replicating the original specification of the car.
The wheels were refurbished some years ago but because of low mileage they still look in excellent condition.
The car has had only 3 previous owners; however the first owner (a leasing company) leased the car to the second owner who used it as a company car from new.
The original SFi air induction box as shown in the picture cw bolts and breather pipe will be given foc to the new owner on the sale of the car. We bought it originally as a replacement for our first 8 valve Calibra. However our first car carried on and on and we realised that this car was to good to use as an everyday car. Fitted with the excellent Red Top engine the car feels very lively in its performance.
Being as rare as it is as a Calibra people often remark about it when they see it .
