Description
This is not a barn find. If you are the kind of buyer that can only accept a well priced light restoration if you think it has never seen the light of day for decades and you will be unearthing some rare treasure to then make your fortune … this isn’t for you.
This Porsche 928 was taken as part of a deal on my Renault 5 Turbo2.
It has spent its recent years in France in dry storage and I think the general condition of the body reflects this.
As the S2 this model has the 4. 7 V8 motor with the 4 speed auto gearbox.
The 928 was built to eat miles at speed and in luxury ... powerful motor coupled with many driver comforts such as the electric seats (still work) and AC (may work).
Currently MOT exempt and will next year be VED exempt … combine this with classic car insurance it makes for some very affordable ownership.
Known faults (caveat, this car has only been in my possession for a short period of time so this may not be an exhaustive list):
- There is a coolant leak around the thermostat housing
- The hazard light and rear heated screen switch do not work
- The bonnet release cable has seized so does not work
- The passenger door does not open from the outside
- The boot requires a firm shut to latch.
- Dash is cracked
- A tune up is most definitely required. The car has mechanically has money spent on it but has sat for at least a year without much use.
- Missing front splitter, thought the two pieces it is currently in are included.
- The paint is tragic … though little corrosion it does require fully repainting
In general, some light recommissioning is required before use.
Some small spares included. Full UK V5 present.
I am no Porsche expert but am trying here to be open and transparent and I hope the price reflects the condition but also leaves room for the required work to make this a very usable and stunning classic.
The price is £6000 firm but for those who cannot buy anything without a discount the car is advertised at £6495.
