Description
MGA Twin cam fixed head coupe,
On offer is a genuine UK home market right hand drive car of which only 150 were produced, the car was dispatched from the factory on 18/ 02/ 1959 and first registered on 26/ 02/ 1959 and retains its original Shropshire issued registration number. The car has only 2 recorded keepers from new the 2nd having owned the car for over 40 years!
The car was purchased in 1984 and a minor renovation was carried out, between 2006 and 2009 the car was subject to a major full nut and bolt body off chassis restoration, we have a large collection of correspondence , invoices and information which shows around £30, 000 of investment during this period, this included nearly £19, 000 to one company alone for the main body/ chassis and trim, the engine and gearbox were outsourced to other specialists.
Since completion of the restoration in 2010 the car has covered less than 6000 miles and almost all trips have been recorded in a drivers log book, the car has had very little use since 2019 and has been unused for the past 3 years.
The coupe is presented in MG chariot red with contrasting tan trim, 15 years on the car still presents very nicely and appears to be utterly solid bearing testament to the restorers quality of work. The car is fitted with grp wings, this was done quite deliberately by the owner who believed it was an improvement in terms of longevity and weight saving however the asking price reflects that some may prefer to replace these items. The car sounds very healthy and drove very well on a 20 mile test run, however also reflected in the price is the provision for a thorough recommissioning prior to use.
In summary here is a very sound genuine twin cam fixed head coupe that really does present well including underneath that could either be recommissioned and used as is or taken to the next level, this surely must be the best value for money twin cam on offer as we've priced it for a quick end of year sale.
