Honda CBR600 F-K
It’s a rarity to find one 1st generation CBR600 in this condition let alone two, see my other listing.
If you want to buy a retro/ classic bike with a future, forget the hype of overpriced Seventies models, consider one that’ll outperform them in all areas including a future return. The bike that started the 600 super sports generation, there may have been 600 ‘sports’ bikes before 1987 but none of them were the nimble fast handling bikes that we’ve gotten used to today and it’s thanks to this model that other manufactures were forced to pull their socks up fast.
This superb UK example is one of the very best, in the rarer red and black colour scheme with 25k miles and low ownership from new. These late model 89/ 90 bikes boasted a 10% increase in power (from 85 to 93bhp) thanks to higher compression, revised cam timing and larger carbs, various other improvements such as rebound adjustment added to the rear shock and some styling updates. Even by todays standard they are a useable quick sports bike and super reliable.
Very few of the 1st generation bikes have survived in their original form. This one still has it’s extended rear mudguard that were usually binned during PDI and the original dealer number plate from new! The first and second owners cherished it for 10 and 15 years consecutively, it thankfully evaded being modified or raced like so many of them were and remains in its factory form even with the original front screen and exhaust silencer.
Dry use and extremely well kept, the condition is exceptional for a 35 year old bike. These steel frame bikes are usually either rough or heavily restored, this one is very much original having received only light restoration work on what was already an excellent bike, see the recent photos with the fairings removed during an extensive service and checkover, even the anodising on the majority of the fittings is un-tarnished. Wearing its original Honda fairings (not replicas like many now are) Original paint on the tank, frame and subframe, exhaust downpipes that are in near perfect condition.
It has an excellent ownership and maintenance record inc letters from previous keepers and maintenance logs, original owners manual and spare keys are all present. A Major service has just been carried out inc all fluids, filters, spark plugs, carbs fully stripped, rebuilt and balanced, new chain and sprockets, and a thorough checkover. The maintenance history also shows the valve clearances have been checked in the last 1500 miles. HPI clear.
It rides beautifully which is no surprise given the recent maintenance, tyres are Avon Road Rider front and rear with almost no wear. Braided front brake lines have been fitted which do make an improvement to the braking, otherwise it is a completely stock example.
A rare bike that is becoming increasingly desirable and extremely difficult to find in this condition, mot’d until November 2025 with no advisories, fully serviced, ready to admire and enjoy as a useable investment. When did you last see another in this condition?
