Description
Rust-free, having lived in Japan for its first 20 years and benefiting from annual Lanoguard underbody protection since arriving in the UK in 2021. The speedo is in MPH, but the odometer shows 70, 000km (roughly 45k miles).
The perfect colour combination of British Racing Green over tan interior, I recently tried to restore a wood/ leather steering wheel (not very well, might need to be re-varnished), but have the old leather wheel as well if you'd prefer that. Note that while the electric seat adjustments all work, the memory settings do not.
To complement the excellent Alpine premium audio system, I've installed a Bluetooth module to stream music from your phone. Whilst I don't have service history prior to my (18 month) ownership, I do have detailed records of all work I've performed myself, including four oil changes, spark plugs, discs and pads all round, gearbox fluid, diff fluid, power steering fluid, upgraded aluminium coolant tower, as well as engine and gearbox mounts replaced. It has a full set of good matching Falken tyres with 5-6mm tread remaining. As a 2002 model, it already had the metal bodied secondary chain tensioners.
Having not driven another x308 I can't comment on how good it is relative to others, but for me it's a great example of a much loved car. She has the odd clunk and moan as you'd expect from an older vehicle, but overall a very pleasant place to be. No doubt a fastidious enthusiast could get it driving 100%. The key thing is that the car has good bones, no rust to be found. There are a few small blemishes to the paintwork as to be expected at this age, mainly bumper scuffs and a small dink to the side which isn't immediately noticeable. The boot lid was swapped from Japanese to UK spec plate and its paint is inferior to that of the rest of the car.
