Description
This bike started its life as a model 50 sold to Kyle and Palmer Singapore in January 1960. It was brought into N. I in 1961 by a member of the military. It changed hands twice and was built into a triton by a collector and kept in their collection for 32 years. It was trailered to bike shows throughout that time. The motorcycle was brought over to U. K. some time in 2010 I believe and registered here with an age related plate. It is registered historic, so tax and MOT exempt as a 1960 Norton 650 with correct frame and triumph engine number in the log book.
Since I’ve owned the bike I have fitted new megaphone exhausts, I have the reverse cones to make it quieter if required. Brand new Amal concentric premier carbs. Rebuilt aluminium flanged wheels. New tyres. Rebuilt hubs with new bearings powdercoated black to look like a Manx bike. New aluminium Manx fuel tank by tab classics. Changed the fiberglass oil tank to an aluminium one. New clipons as the originals were not good enough. It has belt drive clutch, Norton short road holders, rebuilt last year. M&D twin leading brake with new ferrodo shoes which stops very well!
I rode this bike on the parade lap at goodwood revival last year 2023. It got lots of attention being a very period correct cafe racer of the era. It’s also been ridden up to the ace cafe for the triton day this year from Bournemouth without any issues and came back totally dry with no oil leaks. I had the tank painted in a period colour as I didn’t want it to look like every other triton with a silver tank! I understand it’s a bit marmite but could easily be stripped or repainted. The tank is undented underneath. Runs very well with the new carbs. A good honest well built triton that is set up to be used and has had all the teething problems sorted that these bikes can have from being built and not used!
6t engine cases, 9:1 pistons 1972 t120 bonnie head. I don’t know the specs of the bottom end as I’ve not had it apart.
Thanks
