Description

Designed by Autodelta, the TZ is powered by Alfa Romeo's famous all-aluminium, twin overhead camshaft engine with a displacement of 1570 cm3 and single ignition. Other technical characteristics were similar to those of the road-going Giulia. The road version developed 112 bhp and the racing version 160 bhp. The car was built on a tubular steel chassis equipped with 4 disc brakes and independent suspension on all 4 wheels. Weighing in at a very light 660 kg, it could reach a speed of 215 km/ h. The model was presented at Monza, on the autodrome, during a competition organised by FISA. The Alfa Romeo TZ easily won the first four places in the sport-prototype category. After its homologation in the sports category, it won virtually every competition in which it was entered, in Europe and North America. 112 examples of this model were produced between 1963 and 1965. In fact, it was a car designed exclusively for competition, even though it was sold with 112bhp as standard, but it was quickly prepared by the teams and, above all, by the factory. Its track record is nothing short of impressive. This TZ is a state-of-the-art 'Barchetta' rebuild from the 1970s, based on an Alfa TZ tubular chassis. The body features 4 opening panels. The body and doors are made of alloy, while the other 2 doors are made of fibreglass. Listed in a number of specialist publications, this car has a French registration certificate and can therefore, as in the past, be driven on the racetracks. It has an FIA passport and is eligible for many official events.
