Description
French registered, located in France with all post-Brexit import and administrative charges paid. Can help with transport.
A rare and sought-after trials and competition model from the halcyon days of British motorcycling.
A real one... not a copy and not a homage for the Steve McQueen dreamers.
Completely restored 4 years ago, with lots of invoices for parts from specialists in England. Engine and gearbox rebuilt, carburettor replaced, paintwork redone, new Pirelli Competition tyres etc. etc.
Smiths chronometric counter - the correct kms version for the model, SC 5301/ 16 - and all the usual accessories of the period, Docherty, Smiths, Lucas, Amal etc. Very nice re-chromed "Siamese" exhaust system.
Will be sold with two fuel tanks - one 13. 5l (3 gallons) chrome with 5-bar tank tack from the previous 51-55 model, shown in the photos - the other, the original, 18l (4 gallons), painted with all its trim: 4-bar tank rack, fuel cap, tank bands, badging etc. Both are originals (not bad Indian reproductions....) and are treated with POR 15 against rust and ethanol effects.
Electricity 6 volt with LED bulbs for modern traffic. Starts and drives very well obviously. Just out of its running-in period.
French CT will be provided on sale.
Delivered to Denmark in 1956, and imported into the UK in the early 90s. I have been the owner for 4 years and have an up-to-date French “carte grise de collection” in my name, plus all the associated import paperwork.
This is a VERY reluctant sale, so don't hesitate too long in case I change my mind ;o) Photos and additional info on request. Please... no endless back and forth via email, and no blunt questions like "is it still available?”
Listed at a realistic price given the UK offerings… avoid the additional import duty and sky-high transport costs post-Brexit, as I’ve already been through them on your behalf ;o)
