Description
From a small XK collection in the Lake District - a chance to acquire a lovely Jaguar XK140 SE (special equipment) with all the correct fitments such as the C type cylinder head , front fog lamps and painted wire wheels, 4 speed moss gearbox with overdrive. An original UK right hand drive vehicle which was restored to a very high standard at an Aston Martin specialist near the Swiss border from 1988 to 1990. The quality of the restoration can be seen by careful examination of the photographs, the seating beading lines for example and the roof lining plus the underside pictures. The chassis, mechanicals and paintwork are excellent.
The vehicle post restoration went to a Parisienne architect and then an Englishman near Bordeaux before being bought by the current owner. With help from Twyford Moors the vehicle was repatriated and assigned its original registration number. The current owner has improved the vehicle with a new alloy fuel tank, pump with isolation valve, alternator in dynamo design and an LED higher level brake light tastefully applied and loomed onto the luggage rack. These improvements along with the existing electronic ignition and front disc servo assisted brakes has made the vehicle highly practical for modern day motoring.
The car has been stored in a warm garage under a tailored cover with 140 logo and used only on dry days in the present ownership.
An absolute joy to drive, she revs freely through the 4 gears then a flick of a switch engages overdrive. Incredible torque allows infrequent gear changes as the car soaks up miles of smooth comfort hardly noticing the poor road surfaces and potholes.
Clever aerodynamics allow you to drive the car at speed with the windows down avoiding buffeting associated with modern cars and the famous XK engine delivers plenty of heat to the cockpit if required. So what is special about this XK 140?, 34 years after such a high quality restoration she is an absolute gem, and as many commentators note the body styling is a "work of art". The iconic combination of British Racing Green over tan leather is simply glorious. The whole car is very honest and stable showing some patina including a small dent and scrape on the passenger side door. The underside photographs demonstrate no over-painting and is exactly as restored, everything is "readable" as it should be
