Description
For sale I have my 2004 UK(September 2004) registered S55 AMG lwb, with full service history. It has Mercedes Benz service up to 89, 000 and specialist since then. It has an MOT till April 2025 and I have owned the car since November 2022.
The colour is brilliant silver metallic, with black leather interior, and alcantara headlining. The body work is in very good condition, subject to the slight lacquer peel on the nearside rear, behind the door(see picture) and localised rust on the underside of the boot lid (see picture). Other than the above the bodywork is very good condition. No further rust that I can see.
All the electrics work seats, windows, sunroof, dynamic seats, all ABC functions as it should. This being the Kompressor version it has 500bhp and 700nm of torque. The car is seriously quick, 4. 8sec 0-60 (when new) but also very comfortable. The brilliant silver really makes this car stand out. There are not that many for sale in this condition with the correct maintenance. There is Japanese imports currently for sale, same year for £19k (likely to be in better condition).
The car is effortless to drive (maybe a bit too quiet for me when driving around town). However, when you decide to put your foot down it sounds like thunder. For a big car it handles very well. Pirelli Pzeros all round.
The W220 is a very underrated car. If you was to own one for a while, you may have a different opinion. I also own a W140 and trust me I'm undecided which one overall is better.
In my ownership I have serviced the car twice. The first service (March 23, 96, 469) was a full one, fluids, filters, (spark plugs were replaced Dec 22) gearbox service, coolant, brake and engines flushes.
The second service (April 24 99, 134) was a simple oil and filter change.
I have had the following work carried out:
Boot struts December 22 (TM Motors, West Molesey)
NSR shock lower bush December 22 (TM Motors)
OS indicator repeater December 22 (TM Motors)
Front engine and gearbox mounts Feb 23 (SS Motors, Weybridge)
Front ABC valve block March 23 (SS Motors)
Rear ABC valve block April 24 (SS Motors)
AC regas April 24 (SS Motors)
The earlier service history all carried out by Waterhouse Mercedes Benz in Chelmsford is as follows:
29/ 4/ 20 - 89307 - B service
16/ 5/ 17 - 86045 - A service
6/ 4/ 16 - 84419 - B service
5/ 3/ 15 - -78197 A service
28/ 2/ 14 - 71290 B service
22/ 3/ 13 - 63407 A service
9/ 3/ 12 - 56220 - B service
26/ 7/ 10 45728 - A service
9/ 7/ 09 - 32000 - B service
24/ 10/ 08 - 23862 - A service
29/ 6/ 07 - 9748 - B service
I have some of the receipt and tried to obtain the details from Mercedes, but they refused (see email picture).
The car will be 20 years old in September and sleeps outside, so it is not immaculate, in addition to what I mentioned above there are two not so urgent jobs on my to do list
1. The driver's door closes ok however, it hisses so the soft close does not work (only on that door, all the rest work fine). I have been told the actuator/ vacuum needs replacing. For now I can live without it.
If I keep the car a while longer, I will get it replaced.
2. The rear brake pipes needs to be monitored, as there is corrosion on them. They have been treated,
3. The cupholder in the centre console needs replacing.
4. The left rear outer parking sensor is faulty, it works intermittedly (I have a genuine mercedes sensor to be fitted).
I have been as honest as I can with this car, as I want the new owner to be fully aware of its condition. There are lot of pictures to review, some showing the ABC functioning. Please don't be put off by the ABC suspension. It works well if maintained. Mine works as it should.
If you have read this far, thank you.
I am open to any questions the details below) inspections, video requests and possible negotiations on price .
