1989 VFR400R NC30
32, 800 kms / 20k miles, 1 years MOT with no advisories. Just had its big service at a cost of £750 inc valve clearances re-shimmed, carbs rebuilt and properly setup/ balanced, all fluids and filters changed, charging system tested all working as it should.
Rides very well, pulls cleanly right through the rev range with no surging or flat spots and handles very well, still a quick little 400 even by todays standards. Imported in 96, HPI clear/ not categorised, has just come from long term private ownership of 10 years with regular servicing and mots. 6 former keepers.
Not a mint bike by any standards but also not a dog like a lot of the cheaper offerings, original Honda fairings not Chinese copies with plenty of ‘patina’ various marks, cracks and repairs associated with 35 years of use and possibly what you’d expect for an unrestored and used VFR400.
It’d be easy to spend £250-£350 on a set of aftermarket fairings and tank cover if you wanted to transform the look of it, change or pick a colour scheme of your choice (I'd rather leave it as is) It’s also perfectly useable and mostly presentable as is, if you like a bike with a bit of age/ character to it, it’s got that. A bit of PDR on the two small dents on the tank and a R/ H lower fairing would make it very respectable if you wanted to keep it cheap. It's also the right year and model if you wanted to do the desirable Type 1 colour scheme, which would certainly boost its value.
See photos with side fairings removed showing frame side rails and engine cases all in very good order, exhaust downpipes are also very good, inside fuel tank looks like new, tyres are a little older but still in good condition and I’ve been using it the past few weeks without issue. In the last couple of years it’s also had a new radiator with a complete set of upgraded hoses fitted and the fork seals replaced. There’s a reasonable amount of paperwork, old mots, Invoices and spare keys also.
Please look through the photos carefully and obviously have a good read of the description before making an enquiry, that being said I’m happy to discuss in detail over the phone with any genuine buyers as I have owned and worked on a lot of 90’s Hondas over the years so can potentially be more accurate than most.
To sum up, It’s an honest NC30, better than most at this price point and ready to enjoy or improve and add some value with little effort. Sold as is without warranty, very sensibly priced with viewing highly recommended. Based in Aberdeen 15 mins from both train station and airport. No time wasters or scammers please!
