Description
Welcome to the sale of my 2005 Jaguar XJ6 SE. I’ve owned this car for a little over five years and I’ve enjoyed it hugely. Unfortunately, I don’t really use it as much as I should any more, so it’s time for it to go.
It’s a well specified car, with Sat Nav from 2005, multi adjustable front seats, heated seats front and rear, a premium sound system with a 6xCD changer, a cassette player for those retro tunes, front and rear parking sensors, auto-dip reverse wing mirror, auto wipers, auto lights and two keys. It also hasn’t been smoked in.
It’s currently done 67k miles (but this will go up slightly as it’ll continue to be used until sold).
I’ve loved owning this car and I’ve maintained it far above the minimum level (I enjoy working on all things mechanical, so working on the Jag has been as much about enjoyment as anything else). Please see included list of work done. The work has been undertaken either by The Jag Specialist (Doncaster), local garages or myself.
Wherever possible with maintenance, I’ve always tried to go above and beyond to ensure the car stays reliable and I doubt you’ll come across another one of these cars with the same level of maintenance. The battery has also been regularly trickle charged with a Ctek charger.
Tyres are all Uniroyal Rainsport 5 (dated 2020) with plenty of tread remaining.
Good points:
Significant efforts spent in maintaining the vehicle
Clean MOT history (MOT due 25 Feb 2025)
It’s a great car. I know Jag experts will say that the 4. 2 is better (and it is), but the 3. 0 petrol with 240bhp is a fabulous engine.
Bad Points:
There’s a rumble/ resonance between 55mph and 60mph when cold (its more pronounced on smooth roads), I’ve had the propshaft replaced and a new centre bearing and Febi flexible couplings and a new gearbox mount also fitted, but it’s still there. How much of it is in my head, I don’t know. It hasn’t got any worse in my ownership. Above 60, or below 55, it’s not an issue.
There’s a creak in the rear suspension. I’ve just had the lower shock bushes replaced by the Jag Specialist, so it’s not those. I’m guessing it’s likely that it’s the lower wishbones. I have priced the car anticipating that the new owner will need to spend some money in this area.
This model has had several visits to the paintshop to keep it in good order (and for a 20 year old car it really is), however some bits are blended better than others. Overall, though, it’s in decent condition.
The headlining is beginning to sag (a supply of keepy-uppy pins will be provided with the sale).
The rear parking sensors are prone to going on strike on occasion. I bought some replacements and have sprayed them to match, but never got around to fitting them. They will be included in the sale. Service History:

If I’ve missed something important in the above or if you have any questions or queries feel free to get in contact with me. You’re also welcome to come and view the car - it’s located in York.
Important Bits:
I’m not interested in part-exchanging at all. No matter how good/ rare/ unusual your other car is.
Pricing of these cars is all over the place. I’ve priced it at what I think is a reasonable price given the amount of work undertaken on the car, and its mileage and the fact that it needs some suspension bushing work done on the rear.
If you choose to buy the car, the preferred payment method will be via bank transfer. As usual, funds need to clear before you get the keys.
The car is sold as seen. I’m a private seller and I have been as honest as I can with the description. The Jag is 20 years old and things will go wrong with it from time to time.
Serious enquiries only, please. You will need to provide evidence of fully comprehensive insurance and identification before any test drives, although I’m happy to take you out for a passenger ride too.
