Description
Matching numbers 1967 Jaguar S Type 3. 4S Auto in Regency Red.
Purchased by me as a non runner on 5th December 2022 for £6k from Castle Classic Cars. Now runs, starts and stops but never taken on a long run yet so would suggest trailering rather than driving away. It has an auto box and it doesn't have power steering. Obviously Tax and MOT exempt, insurance is currently about £75 for me (I have two cars on the same classic policy for £150).
The car has been worked on by Gittings Classics and is mechanically and structurely sound. It shows 72106 miles and that as far as I can tell is genuine as the last MOT was at 72000 in 2000 and it was laid up in 2002. The exhaust manifold was replaced by the previous owner. The radio appears to be original but it doesn't switch on. Door locks are stiff but all work.
The last owner had it since 1981 (the car is showing 6 former keepers) and he hardly ever used it. I have spent 2 years updating much of the mechanicals.
The car is in good condition for its age but there is a poor repair to the bottom of the OSF wing. There is some bubbling on the OSR door. The rest of the paint is ok with some blemishes and scratches and some paint flaking on the NSF wheelarch. The panel gaps are all very good and the underside of the car is sound with good floors. The sills have had repairs in the past. The interior is completely original with some cracking to the leather and a small tear in the driver's seat squab. The wood is showing its age. The headlining is excellent. As far as i can tell all the electrics work.
The car still needs a modicom of light restoration work but it is in nice condition and the chrome is almost perfect.
The car benefits from the following new parts:
New stainless exhaust complete with mounts £2000
Both Front brake disks £150
Both Front brake callipers £300
All Front brake pipes and flexible pipes £300
New radiator (Old one in boot) £300
New brake pads front £30
New brake master cylinder. (Perfectly ok one in boot, it wasn't the master cylinder) £60
4 new tyres £140
New battery £125
New set of hoses - top and bottom fitted, rest in Boot £50
2 new electronic fuel pumps, old ones repairable and in boot £300
New fuel pipes £50
Petrol tanks repaired and refitted £300
Water pump reconditioning kit in boot £50

circa £4300 in new parts plus labour. This is a lovely Jag and the colour makes it stand out. Still requires a bit of love but all the hard work is done
