Description
I've decided to sell my beautiful and incredibly cool Porsche 550 Spyder replica, built by Martin & Walker Technic Motor Sport Ltd. I purchased the car at the start of the year from Bure Valley Classics, a local Porsche specialist.
Unlike most 550s which are fitted with wheezy VW Beetle or Skoda engines, my 550 is fitted with a 1712 Alfa Romeo flat 4 engine, which was fully rebuilt 2k miles ago (the mileage is 2003 miles now), and has a 5 speed gearbox. It's fitted with electronic ignition, and- obviously- makes an absolutely awesome noise, not least of all as it has a custom stainless exhaust with centre exit, which cost a mini-heart attack inducing £5k. The engine is torquey and fun, and brilliant for blasting about pretending your James Dean (up to a point, obviously), but also quiet and docile if you just want to cruise along. I've done 350 miles in the 550 in a day to go to a classic car show (it won best in class), and was just as happy at the end of my journey as I was at the beginning.
My 550 is in absolutely immaculate condition having had a full respray costing £12K with all authentic Porsche badging, and a new interior of black carpets, red seats, black harnesses and a Moto Lita wooden steering wheel. It's also got a genuine Porsche lightweight wooden gear-knob, that was so stupidly expensive I genuinely can't bring myself to type it here for fear of judgment. Details matter though, right?
The 550 is obviously a tubular chassis with a fibreglass body (the doors open via solenoid) and has disk brakes all round. It is brilliant to drive, and has had a full service less than 40 miles ago, including all filters, plugs, HT leads, distributor, and fuel lines. The number plate ‘DIG 550’- which is perfect for the car in my opinion- is included in the sale (valued at £3, 500). I'm only selling due to changes in personal circumstances.
If you have any questions or anything, please feel free to get in touch. However, I'm not interested in part-exchanges or stupid offers or invitations to advertise via another site or putting the car on sale or return with you or any of that tiresome grift, so please don't do that. I need no further practice being sarcastic.
