Description
1997 MK1 VTS in Quartz Silver.
89, 000 miles from new, MOT till Feb 2025 and recent service just carried out.
Exterior paintwork is in superb condition throughout with only a few minor stone chips on the bonnet. The bodykit has recently been refitted with all new clips, and the back texture has been repainted, along with both front and rear bumpers fully resprayed. It even retains its orginial correct early 16v badges.
Interior is also in great condition, the correct prefacelift seats are present, along with some lovely genuine rubber floor mats. The correct early netted parcel shelf is present with no holes, as is the early thick pile carpet. The keypad Immobiliser works as it should, and I even have a standard radio to go back in. The headlining has recently been removed to attend to the sunroof drain holes, of which new drain holes were welded into the sunroof cassette (not fibreglassed like most do) (pictures available of repairs).
Mechanically the cars also in great shape, all five wheels have been professionally refurbed and wrapped in period correct Michelin tyres, the wheel bolts have also been re zinc plated. There is absolutely no rust left on this car, the majority of the welding repairs have been tended to by the one and only Saxo legend - Daniel Whitworth, everyone knows his standard of welding repairs. Repairs were carried out to the front engine mount access hole, rear sill, rear arches and rear valance area (pictures available on request).
The engine runs well, brakes feel great and gear change is nice and smooth benefiting from new gear linkages recently, there’s no oil leaks, and no play in the rear axle. The engine retains its factory airbox set up.
Paperwork shows proof of a cambelt replacement, all be it a few years ago. The exhaust system has recently been replaced with probably the last available genuine centre section and backbox. Both front wishbones have also recently been replaced.
All the glass is correctly 1997 date stamped (even the windscreen is still the original!).
There is 2 keys present, and 2 central locking key fobs, which both work! One key even still has the dealership tag. The original dealership number plates are also still present. There is plenty of old service history and receipts available, however unfortunately the service booklet isn’t present.
Overall this is up there with one of the best examples around of a now very rare car, and I’ll be sad to see it go. If I don’t fetch the money I’m after, I’m quite happy to keep hold of it for many more years to come.
