Description
I'm advertising my Lotus Esprit SE Highwing 1992 for sale to genuine enthusiasts who will appreciate the work carried out over the last 18 months and the end result. It's true that buying a car fully restored with all the right work completed by the right specialists, is the best option. We've spent a lot of money getting the car to it's currrent high standard.
This car was a genuine barn find, and has only had 4 owners from new including us (owned by myself and a friend) and had covered 76k miles.
I have a Lotus Certificate for the car, which shows there were only 17 right hand drive “high wings” sold in 1992, and this one was 1 of 3 in black with a sunroof.
The previous owner move abroad but did not want to sell the car. It sat in a barn in Suffolk for 18 years, until I was informed by the owner’s brother that he wanted to sell the car.
Since buying the car I have been in contact with the second owner, and he still has a painting of the car on his wall.
I have also met one of the salesmen who worked at the London Lotus Centre when the car was sold (he recognised the number plate).
Upon inspection, the car was dusty but in good condition, with all the electrics working.
As it had sat for so long, it was decided to carry out a full re-commission. Most of the work was carried out by Lotus specialists South West Lotus Centre (SWLC).
The main work carried out included:
· Full engine rebuild (full details available please ask)
· New alternator
· New exhaust manifold
· New oil cooler
· New radiator and fan pack
· New catalytic converter
· Exhaust manifold
. New fuel tanks and fuel pump
· New clutch
· Suspension refurbished with new bushes and new front struts
· New chargecooler
. New oilcooler
. New radiator
· New brakes and upgraded hoses
· New belts and hoses
. New a/ c & chargecooler kit
· New tyres
. New rear discs
. New RH headlight motor
. New rear nearside rear hub
The paintwork is mainly original and really good condition.
Galvanised chassis in very good condition.
The interior has also been reconnolised and looks superb in magnolia.
It sailed through a recent MOT and the garage commented on how good the car is.
The car has completed a 1000 mile trip to Le Mans and back in 2024 without any problems, and has been carefully run-in.
The car really gets a lot a positive attention wherever it goes.
The main reason for selling is so I can free up space in the garage to get back on my project Alfa. I have 2 large invoices totalling over £22k for work done by SWLC as shown in the above list but there are many other parts replaced, all the expensive work has been taken care of and the car is now a great driver and looks amazing on the road. Interested parties will be supplied with invoice copies if needed. A true Blue blooded British and very popular classic sports car, they drive exceptionally well and this car has had all the money spent to give you peace of mind now and into the future.
