Description
IZH model 56 Planeta Motorcycle.
Single cylinder 350cc 2-stroke dual-exhaust with a 4-speed gearbox, chain drive, and drum brakes.
It's based on a German DKW design, but much modernised and improved, and was built in the former Soviet Union at the Izhmash factory in Izhevsk.
Originally registered in Latvia in 1962, but imported into the UK and has the correct UK registration and V5C.
Non-transferable age-related number plate.
Exempt from UK road tax.
Exempt from MOT but I put it though an MOT during UK registration for my own peace of mind, and it passed with no issues.
Many new parts including:
Wheelrims, spokes and Anlas tyres
Silencers
Rear shocks
Wheel and head bearings
Primary and final drive chains
Cutch
All control cables
Front fork tubes and seals
All the removed parts have been retained and are included.
I include a good set of the correct cast aluminium carb snow covers but they are not shown fitted to the bike.
Engine re-bored with 1st oversize piston.
Sensible upgrades include:
Brakes relined in the UK by Villiers Services with modern material.
Custom PTFE-lined control cables from Carrot Cycles and Venhill.
A Kehin-copy PW26 slide carb and fuel hoses (ethanol proof) and an SRM manifold adaptor.
Converted to 12 volt with AC alternator, and CDI ignition.
Leakproof battery.
LED headlight and stop/ tail.
Running on fully synthetic 2T oil and pre-mix fuel at 32:1
Starts, runs and rides well.
It was my lockdown project but we are downsizing and the bike needs to go.
Huge numbers of this model were made. New and used parts are readily available from the UK, Turkey, Germany, Bulgaria and Ukraine.
Later models were very similar and imported into the UK under the Cossack brand.
There's a very active Cossack UK owners club with plenty of technical advice, social activity and a monthly magazine.
Very good overall condition, but has a dent/ scratch on the RHS of tank near the IZH logo (see photo).
The bike is located in Llanfyllin in the beautiful Welsh Borders, just 90 mins from J11 of the M6.
I can't deliver the bike, but I will work with your courier/ transporter to ensure a safe collection.
Payment is by BACS or cash. Full payment must be made before the bike leaves my ownership.
