Description
1275 GT.......... with a difference. Restoration complete, this fabulous little car has turned out to be quite something. All the usual panels have been replaced as required, using heritage mostly. The question arose " all out special..... or special with subtle improvements" We chose the latter !... Painted top to bottom , inside and underneath in VW Cream, the underside being treated with a ruberoid coat prior to paint. A cassette sunroof from a late Jaguar shares the roof profile so the roof panel was engineered to accommodate the unit......... 4 drain tubes installed and it looks incredible. Wood & Pickett electric windows fitted with switches mounted via Metro door pockets. A heated sundym graduated tint front screen adds to the comfort. Under the bonnet is a fully reconditioned 1275 cc engine over a recon gearbox. New twin SU carbs and servo brakes help fill the engine bay. New discs/ calipers pipes & hoses along with renewed steering rack and suspension components complete the front end. New rear subframe and all component parts including brakes, shocks etc. A stainless steel bespoke exhaust system has been created with twin outlet pipes correctly cut in to the rear valance, terminating in star shaped pipes. Total rewire using a new harness plus a bespoke harness for the added electrical components with separate fuse protection.
Retrimmed with beige Alcantara headlining and two tone seats. Fully insulated with matching burgundy wool mix carpets. Italianco alloys fitted. Lined boot area housing a matching spare wheel and tyre along with new battery. All locks and handles are new with keys. In summary this is truly individual motor car and although all the above has been carried out, it still retains the integrity and spirit of a good old fashioned Mini !!
