Description
1973 BMW R75/ 5 – LWB model, 24, 500 miles – Tastefully modified and restored. This bike is cream, not white. This R75/ 5 has been tastefully modified and restored by the previous owner, who owned it since 2008. Bike fitted with much improved refurbished 5 speed gearbox. (so now non kick start, only electric start) The bike was stripped back to the frame and it was powder coated at RPA in Bristol. The original alloy wheels were blasted and were powder coated black and stainless steel spokes fitted by Central Wheels in Birmingham. The headlight unit was stripped and re-chromed, fork tops also chromed. The speedo was re-calibrated and painted white face by Palo Alto Speedometers in California. OEM Toaster tank purchased from Germany and chrome side panels with genuine BMW badges. New BMW chrome fuel cap. Tank re-sprayed in cream. Stainless steel bar end mirrors. Brembo twin front disc brakes fitted with master cylinder on front handlebars.
Cylinders and engine parts were vapour blasted. Airbox removed and replaced with Motorworks cover. The CV carbs were replaced with Mikuni VM32’s and jetted to Rocky Mountain BMW spec. They have been problem free. New rear IKON 222 shocks. Front suspension overhauled with new seals. New cables. Clutch and throttle, new front master cylinder braided stainless steel Goodridge lines.
Loads of documentation comes with this bike, including a ‘diary of works’ document and photos.
Bike recently fully serviced by myself, all oils, filters, carbs cleaned and calibrated, new asbestos battery and new Michelin tyres just fitted.
MOT’s going back to 1993 – showing proof of annual mileages.
Matching frame and engine numbers – same numbers shown on V5C.
My riding days are now numbered due to a recently disclosed medical condition, so regrettably my bike must go.
This bike starts on the button, is very reliable, rides well, is a real eye catcher and has absolutely no issues.
