THE JAGUAR XK8 (PROJECT CODE X100) IS A GRAND TOURER LAUNCHED BY JAGUAR CARS IN 1996, AND WAS THE FIRST GENERATION OF A NEW XK SERIES. THE XK8 WAS AVAILABLE IN TWO-DOOR COUPE OR TWO-DOOR CONVERTIBLE BODY STYLES WITH THE THEN NEW 4. 0-LITRE JAGUAR AJ-V8 ENGINE. THE FIRST GENERATION OF THE XK SERIES SHARED ITS XJS-DERIVED PLATFORM WITH THE ASTON MARTIN DB7, WITH BOTH CARS TRACING THEIR HISTORY BACK TO AN ABANDONED JAGUAR DEVELOPMENT STUDY IN THE MID-1980S KNOWN AS XJ41/ XJ42, WHICH HAD BEEN MOOTED TO BE KNOWN AS THE F-TYPE. ONE OF THE REVISIONS IS THE USE OF THE SECOND GENERATION OF JAGUARS INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION UNIT, TAKEN FROM THE JAGUAR XJ (XJ40).
THE STYLISTIC PREDECESSOR OF THE XK8 WERE A PAIR OF COMPLETELY UNRELATED CONCEPTS FROM AS FAR BACK AS 1982, WHEN JAGUAR REALISED THE XJ-S HAD GROWN TOO LARGE IN SIZE AND WEIGHT TO BE CLASSED AS A PROPER SUCCESSOR TO THE E-TYPE. ACCORDINGLY, THE TWO PROJECTS, CODE NAMED THE XJ41 (COUPE) AND XJ42 (CONVERTIBLE) WERE BROUGHT TO AN ADVANCED STATE OF DEVELOPMENT. HOWEVER, THE PROJECT WAS CANCELLED. WITH THE XJ-S GIVEN A MAJOR FACE LIFT (BEING RENAMED THE XJS) INSTEAD OF A STOP GAP SOLUTION. THEREAFTER, THE XJ41/ XJ42 STUDIES ULTIMATELY EVOLVED INTO THE ASTON MARTIN DB7 AND THE JAGUAR XK8 WHICH WERE LAUNCHED IN 1994 AND 1996 RESPECTIVELY.
THE XK8 USES A 4. 0-LITRE 32-VALVE JAGUAR XJ-V8 ENGINE WITH THE NEW CATS (COMPUTER ACTIVE TECHNOLOGY SUSPENSION) ADAPTIVE SUSPENSION. FROM 1998 ON WARDS, ALL MODELS OF THE XK LINE UP WERE FITTED WITH THE SERVOTRONIC II POWER STEERING. THE XK8 IS ELECTRONICALLY LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM SPEED OF 250. 1KM/ H (155. 4 MPH). THE XK8 CAME STANDARD WITH 17-INCH ALLOY WHEELS AND WITH AN ALL LEATHER INTERIOR, BURR WALNUT TRIM, AND SIDE AIRBAGS. THE CLASSIC TRIM WAS A MORE LUXURIOUS OPTION TO THE SPORT INTERIOR AND FEATURED HEAVY USE OF LEATHER. JEREMY CLARKSON DURING A "TOP GEAR" TEST DRIVE, LIKENED THE INTERIOR OF THE XK8 TO SITTING INSIDE BLENHEIM PALACE. LIKE ITS PREDECESSOR THE XJS, THE XK MODELS USE A 2+2 SEATING LAYOUT FOR THE INTERIOR. COMPARED TO THE XJS THE XK MODELS ARE 25 PER CENT STIFFER AND HAVE A MORE RESPONSIVE POWER-TRAIN. THE ZF 5HP 24 5-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS COUPLED TO THE CONVENTIONALLY ASPIRATED 4. 0-LITRE ENGINE.

AS STATED THIS STUNNING JAGUAR AUTO COUPE IS IN SUPER ALL ROUND ORIGINAL CONDITION. THE CAR DRIVES AND STOPS GREAT, AND SUCH A PLEASURE TO DRIVE, TURNING HEADS WHEREVER IT TRAVELS AND NO WONDER GIVEN THE XK8 HAS RETAINED IT'S ORIGINAL BEAUTIFUL APPEARANCE AND ALL ROUND CONDITION.
ALL BODY PANELS ARE STRAIGHT AND TRUE, AND AS SAID, THERE ARE NO DENTS ETC. THE GLEAMING METALLIC SAPPHIRE BLUE PAINTWORK IS IN EXCELLENT ORDER PROVIDING A DEEP SHINE. THERE ARE NO SCRATCHES, SCUFFS OR MARKS. IN ESSENCE, THIS IS A TRULY STUNNING AND SOLID EXAMPLE OF THE CLASSIC BRITISH SPORTS GRAND TOURER.
THE CLASSIC IVORY LEATHER INTERIOR IS ALSO IN VERY GOOD ORDER, ORIGINAL, VERY CLEAN AND UNCLUTTERED. THERE ARE NO TEARS, UNSIGHTLY SCUFFS OR MARKS OR SIGNS OF DISCOLORATION. ALL IS IN TACT, FUNCTIONING AS INTENDED, COMFORTABLE, PLEASANT TO THE EYE. AND A VERY PLEASANT PLACE TO BE.
THE CHASSIS AND UNDERCARRIAGE IS CLEAN AND SOLID IN ALL AREAS, AS ARE THE FLOOR PANS ETC. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ROT/ RUST ANYWHERE, VERIFIED BY THE CAR HAVING A ADVISORY FREE MOT TO 23 SEPTEMBER 2025.
THE BOOT - AGAIN VERY CLEAN, SOLID AND UN-CLUTTERED.
ENGINE BAY - AS PER THE BOOT.
ENGINE - THE ENGINE IS RELIABLE, AGILE AND RESPONSIVE, STARTS FIRST TIME OF ASKING EVERY TIME. IT SOUNDS GREAT THROUGH THE GEARBOX AND EXHAUST SYSTEM.
