Description
A 1991 pristine example of Herbert Schäfer's redesigned Golf classic. Beautiful condition, low mileage (66, 500 miles/ 107019 kilometres). 3 owners in its 33 year history. Purchased new in Basel, Switzerland in April 1991. Sold privately to my sister in 1998 who liked it so much she brought it back to the UK in September 2000. Then sold to me in October 2002. This gem of a car has been looked after with great care ever since.
The vehicle comes with a valid MOT certificate (June 2024), currently insured until 20 December 2024. Road tax until March 2025.
The original service book will be provided, along with the most recent (V5c) logbook (September 2018), and past service records. A recent video health check (June 2024) is also available on request.
New Additions
Modern headlights fitted to suit motorway driving. The original headlights are available with this sale. A portable JVC CD player has been fitted (the base unit shown in the photos). A new battery was fitted in May 2024.
Minor damage
The bodywork and upholstery are intact as shown but it's worth pointing out some minor wear and tear. Small paint scratches on the passenger dooors. These have been repainted but as this is a rare colour, there is a slight colour mismatch. Approx. 1-3cm rustspots on a) the front windscreen (next to the windscreen wipers), b) the front windscreen side frame and c) the rear bumper header panel. The offside rear wheel arch was repaired in November 2018 after a garage scrape, (the damage no longer visible). The (plastic) handbrake lever gaiter is broken at the rear tip. The plastic covers on three out of four door handles are discoloured (but fully functional). There is a small oil leak from the engine but the service garage hasn't repaired it as it was considered too minor. The car has three stickers on the rear hatchback door, (ASAG, SCO and the Italian flag). I'll leave it to the new owner to decide whether to remove these or not. Please refer to the photos for details.
Rare paint colour
Capri Green (Volkswagen LA6U). This colour was only available between 1991 and 1992 and as a result is a rare find. A shining example of a Volkswagen modern classic. This car has been in my family for the last 26 years. A living legend. Housed in the garage when not in use, she's a solid proposition. Please note the left-hand drive. It's never been a problem in the UK, (quite the opposite), but it may not suit everyone.
A similar model featured in the famous 50th anniversary YourWagen video (1974-2024). One of three WeddingWagens (48 seconds in) on - details above.
Nothing more to add. It's a great car in excellent condition. Only cash offers considered.
