Description
A pristine 1991 example of Herbert Schäfer's redesigned Golf classic. Beautiful condition, low mileage (66, 500 miles/ 107019 kilometres). Three owners in its 33 year history. First bought in Basel, Switzerland, April 1991. In 1998 it was sold privately to my sister. She then brought it over to the UK when she moved back here in September 2000. I bought it from her in October 2002. This car (unique LHD and colour) has been looked after with great care throughout its life.
The vehicle comes with a valid MOT certificate (until June 2025) , road tax valid to March 2025 and is fully insured.
The original service book will be provided, along with the most recent (V5c) logbook and past service records. Its recent video health check (June 2024) is also available on request.
New Additions
Modern headlights fitted to suit UK motorway driving. The original VW headlights are available with this sale. A portable JVC CD player has been fitted (its base unit shown in the photos). A new (Bosch) battery was fitted in May 2024.
Minor damage
The bodywork and upholstery are intact as shown but it's worth pointing out some minor wear and tear. Small paint scratches on the passenger doors. These have been repainted but as this is a rare colour, there is a slight colour mismatch. Small rustspots (varying from 0. 5-2. 5cm) on a) the front windscreen (next to the windscreen wipers), b) the front windscreen side frame and c) the rear bumper header panel. The offside rear wheel arch was repaired in November 2018 after a garage scrape, (the damage is no longer visible). The (plastic) handbrake lever gaiter is broken at the rear tip. The plastic covers on three out of four door handles are discoloured (but fully functional). The car has three self-adhesive stickers on the rear hatch trim, (ASAG, SCO and the Italian flag). Please see the photos for details.
Gloss colour finish
This Golf is painted in Capri Green metallic (Volkswagen LA6U). This colour was only available between 1991 and 1992 and as a result is rarely available on the market. A shining example of a Volkswagen modern classic. This car has been in my family for the last 26 years. Housed in the garage when not in use, she's a solid proposition. Please note the left-hand drive.
A similar model featured in the famous 50th anniversary YourWagen video (1974-2024) as one of the WeddingWagens - details above.
Nothing more to add. It's a great car, runs well in good condition with excellent bodywork. Only cash offers considered.
