Description
Bought as a lockdown project in June 2020, but a new project and lack of space forces sale.
Not quite finished, but very close. Someone is going to get an amazing bargain with this bike, as a lot of work and money has been spent on it.
Bought in 2020 stating that the engine had been rebuilt in 2014:
- Cylinder bores honed, valves and seats reground.
The bike had not been used since then, as the owner went down with cancer and I bought it from his widow.
- Front fork stanchions had been hard chromed by AM Philpot, Luton.
- Custom made downpipes in 2mm thick stainless steel fitted, with new chrome silencers.
Work done since I bought it in 2020:
Engine triple bypass carried out by Moto Cave, Swindon:
- New stator, new cam chain and tensioner, new mechanical seal.
- Carbs stripped and cleaned, including new float valves.
- Fuel tap overhauled with new seals kit fitted.
Rebuilt starter motor:
- New bushes and upgraded earth. Means it works, unlike the original ones.
Brakes fully overhauled:
- Rebuilt brakes all round, including new seals and pistons for every calliper.
- New discs replaced all round.
- Complete new front master cylinder and brake lever.
New tyres fitted:
- Bridgestone BT 46s
Chrome engine crash bars fitted.
New Hagon rear monoshock fitted.
New battery fitted
Supporting bills for some £1, 750 spent since 2020.
She runs and stops well, but I have lost interest in the project. MOT'd last year, but now on SORN.
No MOT required in June 2025 as then qualifies for Historic Registration, being over 40 years old.
Priced to go. This bike is in the original 1984 Candy Red livery, with all the trim.
There are very few of these left in this state, so it's quite rare.
It has not been turned into a street bike, but the CX frame and engine is very popular with the custom build market and would make a good donor vehicle, as so much work has already been done.
