Ripple bonnet 2cv AZU ground up restored see photo’s
Restoration carried out in France.
2 “ AZU’s used 1960 and 1966 models. 1960 id retained.
The better bulkhead and doors came from the 1966 model. All other bodywork, bonnet front bumper interior fittings and lights came off the 1960 model. New galvanised chassis fitted together with all new floors. New body sides were nos. All running gear replaced nos including suspension. Latest unleaded 602cc engine and gearbox new replacements. All brakes renewed including lines and hydraulics. Late model in-board new front disc brakes fitted. Re-wired 12 volt including generator and electronic ignition with led running lights. Nos locks fitted to all doors. New rubber mats fitted. Seat belts fitted to front seats
This AZU was updated to latest 2cv specification and is as new. New paint work applied and was distressed to appear worn with applied mis-matched paint repairs.
A unique vehicle under the paintwork being totally as new.
Interior seat frames were re-trimmed using original spring system. Rear seat also. Has period roof rack.
The distressed bodywork may not appeal to all. However these vans were work horses and not coveted during their working lives and therefore in my opinion this should be reflected in the vans re-birth. Ground-up restored with new chassis, full upgraded engine, running gear, brakes, suspension, electrics and retrimmed
Appears a totally well used weathered AZU . However totally as new under the paint.
