Rover Mini Cooper -
One of the last to come off the line in 2000
This charming little car has been in our possession for 14 years. Regrettably, we must part with it due to my wife's health issues preventing her from driving.
Positive Aspects:
The engine and gearbox are in excellent condition, with no smoking or oil loss. Steering, suspension, and brakes are in very good shape. The suspension has been upgraded with hi/ lo adjustable springs, significantly improving handling and driving experience compared to the original rubber block suspension. All electrics are in good working order. A power isolation switch has been installed to prevent battery drain from the factory-fitted immobiliser during winter storage. The car features single-point fuel injection, which has been reliable. The standard exhaust system provides a pleasantly quiet ride. The heater works very well. A JVC radio with built-in Bluetooth and rear parcel shelf speakers is installed for entertainment. This car has a half leather interior. As it stands, this Mini starts and drives beautifully, capable of a long-distance journey to Scotland without issue.
Areas for Improvement:
Like all Minis, this one has not been immune to rust. Significant rust developed between the 2023 and 2024 MOTs due to outdoor storage. While welding work was done to pass the MOT, future attention may be required. The passenger window operates properly when lowering but needs assistance to raise, likely due to a faulty winder mechanism. The heater fan switch only functions on the high setting, a longstanding issue since our purchase in 2010. The original Mini Cooper floor mats are present but show signs of wear. The spare wheel is a steel rim, though an additional alloy rim was purchased for a potential swap. The antenna on the aerial mount broke off during outdoor storage with a cover.
Additional Notes:
The car comes with its jack and spare wheel. It's the no-frills version, making it ideal for purists. While currently road-worthy, potential buyers should be aware that future investment may be necessary to maintain its condition.
This Rover Mini is a delightful classic that, with some care and attention, will continue to provide its new owner with an authentic and enjoyable driving experience.

Sadly it rotted away and she had to move on to other things, including me. We bought this car from a dealership in Birmingham in 2010 once we got it home and had a really good look it was obvious that the upper bodywork was in need of some attention. It turned out the the windscreen frame up near the roof needed replacing the bottom valance where the wipers are was also is a sore state so were the fronts of the wings around the headlights and the indicators. We decided that patching it up wasn't going to do it justice for we put it into a body shop and had all the front panels for the doors forward replaced and resprayed. During the time that this car has been owned by my wife it has only done 6000 miles give or take a few. She named it Molly and will be sad to see it go but we need the space.
