Description

XJ6 4. 2,
3 previous owners.
52000 miles.
I bought this because I had to have it, but I've been told 3 cars is one too many.
I've owned many in the past but this is the best by a long way in all respects.
It's the base model not a Sovereign, so it has cloth seats, no Air-conditioning, no cruise control, no trip computer - all things that go wrong and people rarely fix, leaving a new owner with buttons that do nothing which is annoying and can be expensive.
Electric windows - perfect.
Electric mirrors - perfect.
Electric aerial - perfect.
Fuel tanks - perfect, including change over
All dash switches do exactly as commanded and all interior lighting works including the dashboard lights.
Supplied new by Loxley Jaguar on Jan 14th 1986 to a Mr W Thomas of Bromley, Kent. (I have Jaguar's original thank you letter to him from Browns Lane)
It passed to Mrs M Weeks in Dartford in Feb 1990.
Then to Mr W Tucker in August of 1993, having been his pride and joy, it spent 15 years sitting quietly in his garage, though it was regularly run.
Mr Tucker is elderly now and does not drive so the car was bought by me after it was MOT tested.
New tyres and a few minor jobs were all it needed.
She drives like a new car, very tight, nothing creaking or knocking, just super smooth as it should be. I've been using her every day to go to work, it's lovely to waft home in such comfort (it's better than my modern Jaguar)
Oil pressure is excellent and doesn't drop below 40psi when hot (60-70 cold).
The interior is very clean and comfortable with very little wear if any, as you'd expect, only the wood on the ski slope needing attention.
Even the door speakers are still sounding nice and all work.
Bodywork is very good, I won't call it mint, but is extremely presentable with no rotten arches or window frames. Sills are fine, underneath is absolutely solid.
The cranberry red is very striking and a
nice alternative to the cobalt blue so often seen.
Those in the know will have noted a lack of alloy wheels. Mr Tucker disliked the original pepperpots (so do I) and changed them for the earlier steel rims and stainless steel trims - which are in nice condition.
So to recap.
Low owners,
low miles,
MOT to Oct 2025.
Everything works perfectly.
And drives superbly.
All in all a lovely Series III to enjoy, show and preserve (probably in a rare spec now)
