1982 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 Series 3

Selling my beautiful Jaguar XJ6 Series 3 Auto in stunning Sapphire Blue. Registered on 1st January 1982 so now registered as Historic so no MOT required, no VED and ULEZ etc exempt plus cheap insurance.

I'm only the 2nd recorded keeper , the car was off the road from what I could gather from around 1997 (due to death of original owner). It went into a private collection until being recomissioned for road ( tanks checked and cleaned , new fuel hoses etc) around 2020. I bought the car from a well known classic Jaguar dealer in the summer of 2021 with a mileage around 26, 000 - now showing just 29, 720. Sadly most of the original car history and paperwork went missing after the original owner died but it still has original dealer stickers on tthe windscreen and original dealer number plates (Mann Egerton).

Everything works as it should including the original radio cassette and electric aerial, all switches and gauges etc.

The Series 3 was the ultimate development of the classic XJ6 including the reliable and more efficient fuel injection system. This is the model that featured in many publications recently and so is now regarded as "the one to have" and so prices seem to be rising fast.

The interior is in excellent condition and all original - the head lining is coming away from the C pillars and a few saggy areas so ideally should be replacred in the next year or two. All the tyres are the correct type and were new when i bought the car so have covered less than 5000 miles. When I bought the car local specialists Winspeed fitted a new front crankshaft oil seal and harmonic damper (also had Max 500 fit a new waterpump) and since then the car has been been 100% reliable and oil tight. I fitted a new fuel change-over valve as the original was sticking.

I have attended numerous JEC Jaguar events over the last 3 years and the car is much admired everywhere it goes including the recent JEC 40 years celebrations at Gaydon plus it won an award at a JEC event at Denbies. I have only seen two others in the same condition and similar mileage and both were in the £23-£25k region from dealers.

I some artwork and framed original Jaguar advert plus boxed large scale LS model in the same colour which will all be included in the sale ( along with a few critical spares and new hose kit etc). I bought this XJ6 as it was by far the best example I had seen and the other cars I saw were brown and black. The Sapphire Blue really stands out and makes the car look sensational.
It drives and handles like a modern car , but without all the annoying gadgets and on a good run you can well over 20mpg which isnt bad for a 4200c engine! Great fun and a great investment for the future.
