Description
I purchased this car privately 6 years ago and I am the 10th owner. Although exempt it has a current MoT to 25/ 09/ 25 and has been the subject of an older restoration of about ten years ago. As can be seen in the photos the paintwork is still in fairly good order as is the chrome-work, with a few small blemishes here and there, and the shut lines are near to perfect. Always garaged and never taken out in the rain. This is not a concourse car (I would be asking a lot more if she was) but still a very nice car to take to shows where she always receives positive comments. This car has always been well maintained no matter of the cost.
I believe that the original engine had a cracked block and had seized up. This was replaced during the restoration with a sturdier built reconditioned 135bhp engine from a 2. 5 pi saloon (some of these cars/ engines were used for rallying) and the head converted to unleaded prior to the respray.
Other work that has been carried ot over the years include:
Replacement meter unit fitted.
Bosch fuel pump fitted.
The overdrive has been refurbished.
Lumentron electronic ignition fitted.
Sports coil fitted.
Hi Torque starter motor fitted.
Replacement hood and cover fitted.
Interior trim replaced including carpets, sound deadening mats and both seats refoamed and recovered.
Replacement walnut dash, door cappings and steering wheel fitted.
Replacement water pump, pulley and silicon hoses fitted.
Replacement radiator cowling (polished steel) fitted.
Electric fan and override switch fitted.
Replacement stub axle, front trunnions, bushes, bearings etc.,
fitted.
10/ 10/ 24 Windshield replaced.
21/ 10/ 24 Fuel tank, fuel filter, enlarged bore couplers and all tank to pump hoses replaced.
There is more but too much to include here. I have invoices/ receipts going back to 1985. It has been a pleasure to own this car as she really is a beautiful example of the marque but now, due to ageing joints, I am having to reluctantly sell her in order to get a larger classic car.
The red paintwork and bright chrome really make it stand out. I have added some touches of chrome and colour (mainly red) to the engine bay and walnut cappings to the cockpit etc., to make her look even nicer. She is quite fast and can easily keep up with modern traffic. She is equally at home on the motorway or on the B roads for which, it seems, she was made - especially with the top down.
Although she is MoT, ULEZ and Road tax exempt I have Mot certificates going back to 1985 up to and including this year (expires September 2025).
Maintained on a regular basis this car has never let me down.
I have some spares which will come with the car if the right price is agreed.
I believe that, considering the excellent condition of the car, I am asking a fair price although I am open to sensible offers.
I am not in a hurry to sell this car and, therefore, will not entertain any silly offers.
I have an agreed insurance valuation of £25, 000 which I can show to any prospective buyer.
I am open to a swap or part exchange deal for an early Classic Ford Mustang of the same standard as this car (money either way).
