1931 RILEY 9 racing special "BROOKLANDS "style - details above collección-auto-classiche-epoca-storiche/ 1931-riley-9-special-brooklands-style/ BRAND RILEY MODEL 9 special BROOKLANDS YEAR 1931 PRICE EURO ON REQUEST CHASSIS 6013096 ENGINE 41100 CYLINDER 1087cc FIVA CERTIFICATIONS GREEN INTERIOR GREEN EXTERIOR NOTES Converted in 1947 by Teddy Burgess with a special 4-seater Tourer body (with the radiator from a Singer Le Mans) to allow him to adapt to the sporting regulations of the time, in 1949 it took part in the 'Daily Express 1000 Miles Round Britain Tour' organised by the Motor Cycling Club, arriving in Torquay and winning the prize for the most attractive car, as can be read in the newspapers of the time.
In an article that appeared in 'Classic & Sportcar' in January 1986, the last owner R. B. Rands , grandson of Teddy Burgess who had owned the car since 1960, explained that he had been deprived of the car due to the introduction of the MOT test and lack of garage space for the price of just £10. At the time of the sale the car was still configured as a Tourer and he says it was called 'The Bluebird' in the family. From 1970 to 1995 the car was owned by Geoff Winn Bryson, who dismantled the bodywork adopted for the 1000 Miles Race and rebuilt it for circuit racing. To adhere to Brooklands specifications, the chassis was shortened by 10. 5 inches and the bodywork installed was a lightened 2-seater sport car with a fabric-covered wooden frame. During the period in which it was used for circuit racing, it underwent numerous mechanical improvements.
In particular, in the mid-1980s, it was prepared by specialist Nev Farquar with the following implementations: - High-compression racing cylinder head - High-compression omega pistons - Special camshafts - Lightened timing gears - Lightened flywheel - Increased oil pan - Increased oil pump - Brooklands water pump - Shaft and connecting rods - Bushings - Hydraulic braking system - Straight cut differential 5:1 The car was used continuously for circuit racing until Goeffrey Winn Brison in 1995 sold it to the last owner who imported it to Italy.
In 1997 the new owner decided to equip the car with a less performing engine but more usable on the road, so he sent it to England to the specialist Barrie Gillies who restored it completely. The invoice of the work carried out is available. In 2002 the FIVA certification was issued. Since it is in Italy the car has participated in a large number of events including the 1000MIGLIA, 2 editions of the "Ennstal Classic", 4 editions of the "Coppa di Coppa", 4 editions of the "Coppa di Spagna", 4 editions of the "Coppa di Spagna", and the "Coppa di Spagna". , 4 editions of the 'Coppa dei due mari', the 'Bologna-Raticosa', the winter 'Stormy wheater', the Castell'Arquato-Vernasca to name but a few. A vast historical documentation of over 50 years of racing is available, which cannot be illustrated on the site but will be supplied with the car.
