1948 ALLARD K1 TOURER MADE BY ALLARD MODEL K1 YEAR 1948 PRICE EURO ON REQUEST CHASSIS 71K251 ENGINE FORD 5E153 CILINDRATE 3917cc OWNERS 1 since 2004 FIVA CERTIFICATIONS brown interior brown exterior red headlining black Allard is an English brand much better known in the U. S. market than in Europe. In fact, Sidney Allard, the founder of the brand, used in the production of his models big American 8-cylinder engines that favoured the overseas marketing. Allard cars were always sporty cars also in the touring versions and had a great prominence also in important competitions such as the "24 Hours of Le Mans" and the "1000Miglia".
Few car marques have been so closely identified with their founder, ending their existence with the death of Sidney Allard in 1956. Purchased by its last owner in England in 2004 in excellent condition, it was again subjected to a conservative restoration and in 2006 was homologated with FIVA.
The car is fitted with two engines, the original matching numbers in excellent condition is currently stored in a military crate that contained the engine, also Ford, currently installed. The power is no different but this second engine named '24 STUDS' from the number of bolts on the heads is the one that lends itself to being prepared for racing.
It is fitted with short ratios, ideal for rallies, where the K1s had been winning since the early 1950s (including the Monte Carlo Rally) or for hill-climbs or trials, a speciality much loved by the British. 151 ALLARD K1s were built and only a few are still in existence. The last owner took part in numerous events with this splendid and rare car: "2000 kilometer Deutschland", "CastellArquato-Vernasca", "Bologna-Raticosa", "Coppa dei due mari".
