Description
This is my, Maserati certified matching numbers, Merak 3. 0, built in 1974 and shipped to Citroen Cars Ltd in Slough and road registered in 1975. It is a classic mid-engined 2+2 coupe, previously treated to a bare-metal respray and mechanical overhaul, and now offered for sale following long-term storage.
It is powered by a quad-cam 3. 0-litre V6, fed by triple Weber carburettors, delivering 190bhp feeding the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
The five-digit odometer displays 10, 060 miles and whilst I cannot warrant this, from the accompanying MOT test history, the test, dated April 1987, records the mileage at the time as being 05564, indicating that fewer than 4, 500 miles have been covered since then.
The car retains its magnesium alloy 15-inch Campagnolo wheels which are fitted with Michelin tyres.
Equipment includes electric windows and a heated rear screen.
Accompanying the sale are two workshop manuals, an engine manual, a wiring diagram, extensive invoices for work undertaken, photographic records of the respray, various MOT test certificates, the spare wheel and the certification from Maserati SpA.
A thorough programme of restoration work was carried out between 1994 and 2000 which brought it up to concours standard (the car features on Enrico's Maserati website appearing at the Maserati Club concours under the VRN of GOL11N) , following which the car was sold in 2001 and has since been kept in storage most of the time, covering little more than 600 miles since its last MOT in 2003.
I purchased the car last year with the intention of recommissioning it for road use but unfortunately health issues have prevented me from doing more than a minor service which included an oil and filter change along with a new alternator belt. It is now reluctantly offered for sale.
