Description

1958 PACKARD HAWK

This was the last year of Packard and made by Studebaker.

Only 588 Packard Hawks were made in the final year of Packard production and they are a highly sought after car.
Studebaker threw everything at the 1958 Packard range to make them a better car than their Studebaker range.

These were America's fastest production car for 1958 and all Packard Hawks were factory supercharged. Back in the day, they were even more expensive than a Corvette.

In my mid 20's, back in the early 1990's, I toured North America in for a year in one of these that I bought in San Francisco. They are a smiley face car and fun weapon to smoke around in.

This car is very original and has only travelled just over seventy seven thousand miles. I am the third owner. The car was imported into the UK in 2000 and purchased from the original owner.

The original owner was the Studebaker Packard Dealer who never sold the car on, but kept it in his private collection. Just like the Avanti, the Packard Hawk represented the final last independent design of the make.

I have recommissioned this car myself as I have over 40 years experience with the make.

All the brakes have been done, with new flex hoses.
I have had the supercharger apart and set up so it will go into boost mode now. Rebuilt the carburettor and given the car a full tune up. A new fuel line has been installed, plus many other things.

All side glass windows have been greased and function as they should door and boot rubbers have been replaced.
The car has a stainless steel exhaust system mated to a set of extractors to give the car a bit more power.
New full width white walls have been fitted.

The original dealer did not like the original Canyon Copper paint colour and re painted the car black in the early 1970's. The Parchment white roof colour is still the original paint.

There is some rust in the typical places you would expect on the front and rear fenders. Chassis and the rest of the body are excellent.

Interior is still the original leather and is showing its signs of age, but is still serviceable, although the padding could use replacing. Seat belts have been fitted front and rear and the carpets have been replaced years ago.

It's a nice driving car and in the condition where you can just drive and enjoy it or restore the car if you like.

Packard Hawks are difficult to find in any condition, but really hard to find in just driver quality, as most cars are either for restoration or have been restored to varying standards over time. This is one of those cars that is a clean slate for you to enjoy from the get go.

More detailed images are available on request. The V5 is in my name.
