Description
Suzuki RG500CH Gamma
Extremely low mileage, just 3343. This is a UK bike first registered 05-01-1988. I bought it in 2014 from a chap who had owned it since March 1993, so he had it for over 20 years but didn’t ride it for the last 10 years although he started it and got it up to operating temperature every 2 weeks and had a diary documenting this !
Looking through the old Mot’s I can see that when he bought it from his local dealer it had done just 1994 miles. The last time he Moted and rode it in April 2002 it had done 3068 miles.
I have owned it for over 10 years, during this time it has been on display behind glass at a Suzuki Dealership. When I bought it, it had done 3194 miles, since then I have twice got the Dealer to Mot it so I could use it a little bit but again have put few miles on it. The first Mot was done on the 10th of August 2017 when it had the original 3194 miles. The second was done on the 28th of May 2022 when it had done 3317 miles. It has now done 3343 in total. Unfortunately for the first Mot they had to fit new tyres as the old ones showed signs of perishing and it also needed a new rear shock absorber, I do still have the original though. I also have many years of Sorn certificate’s from the last owner showing it’s lack of use, dates of certificates are, April 2004, April 2007, April 2008, April 2009, April 2010, April 2011, April 2012 and April 2013.
So as you can see, in the last 30 years or so it has done very few miles but always been started regularly, firstly by the last owner and then looked after by the Suzuki dealer.
This is an unrestored bike and as such there are little touches around the bike that show it has never been restored or messed about with in any way, it has a slight scratch on the fuel tank I think from a jacket zip and some slight corrosion showing in places but it’s only original once so have left well alone.
This RG is as it came out the factory except for the tyres and rear shock, the original toolkit is under the seat and unopened, it still has the little paint marks on the bolts as done on assembly at the factory, it also has the original Tokico brake pads which are almost like new showing minimal wear as shown in the pictures.
I have seen and heard a lot of RG500’s in all my years around bikes and I have never seen another that runs as quiet and crisp as this does.
You can probably tell I am very attached to this bike but my circumstances have changed dramatically and so Unfortunately I need to sell my bike collection.
