Description
For sale is this excellent 1930 Humber 16/ 50 Mk 2. It has twin mounted mounted spare wheels and an original rear trunk. I have owned this car since 1999 . I purchased the car from a lovely family in Blackpool. The car was then taken to The Humber Workshop in Suffolk where the following repairs were carried out.
A complete engine rebuild along with clutch and gearbox. Replaced Andre Hertford front shock absorbers, removed . re-sealed and repainted petrol tank. Both starter motor and dynamo have been refurbished/ rewound.
The bodywork and chassis stripped down to bare metal and painted in Ivory and Black to an amazing finish that still looks fantastic today, with no visual signs of any necessary further attention. The chrome brightware is in excellent condition. Interior leather is all original with a lovely patina. The headlining and carpets have been replaced. The windscreen and window glass have also been replaced.
The gear box is smooth and has an easy change action and the engine pulls strongly.
There is an extensive history file from the previous owner.
During my ownership every single item of work/ repair that was required was carried out immediately and I have kept a mileage and fuel log along with a history of all the repairs etc. The previous owner had an excellent and very well put together history file which includes the original Humber Instruction Book. Several old Vehicle Tax discs. A copy of the Factory Sales Register showing the car number, order number & date despatched.
Many MOT Test Certificates.
A couple of original RAC membership vouchers from the 1930s years .
The History File shows the 1st Owner lived in Bexhill-On-Sea Sussex and was chauffeur driven for some of the time. Approx 1930-1960.
From 1960-1964 the car was owned by a school teacher in the Hastings area. Remaining in Hastings the car passed to a new owner for a year or so. In 1965 the history file shows the car moved to new ownership in Pembroke where it seems to have stayed for 15 years. In 1980 the car was sold to another owner in Macclesfield where it remained for just 2 years when it then went to its new owner also in Macclesfield and remained in his good care until 1999 when I was able to purchase it .
There are also some very well kept letters between various owners which of course add to the charm of the History File.
There are also about 18 older photographs from the previous owner along with many of my own including a huge collection taken during the body work and mechanical engineering carried out during my ownership.
